I don't know how to pay ? I mean after the stuff are in your cart, what should you do? I'm using Borderlinx and I'm new to it! Hehe

Bro, if you haven't bought yet, hold your horses.

Saw in the other thread ra[g]e recommended a HK online store. Just went to check it out, prices are good from that store. Better still, since they are in HK, shipping is cheaper, which means if need to RMA also cheaper.

Check it out:

Recently upgraded my Thinkpad X61's Hdd to Intel 80gb X25-M SSD..

Processor T7250, 3gb ram, windows XP..

Windows load up after 2.5 bars on fresh installation, 4 bars after installing all the M$ updates... before upgrading it was about 7.5 bars fully software and applications loaded..

Kind of slower than my expectation seeing too many videos on youtube that those don't even display the bars loading as they are so fast.. :s22: :(

I just upgraded my Toshiba Satellite with a X25m G2 160GB. Running Windows Vista, it takes about 8 bars before it loads into Windows, but the difference is that while mechanical drives are still working very hard loading all the startup apps, the SSD don't seem to be breaking any sweat. I am sure you can tell the difference as well. Do remember to install the Intel SSD toolbox if you are not on Windows 7. It will become slower over time.

Sorry could you confirm if shipping the SSD from HK to Singapore is cheaper? Perhaps you could check? it cost SG$20 for OCZ Vertex (Packaged) from US to Sing excluding US local postage but this is usually free anyway

Tried adding a Vertex 2 60gb to cart and see the shipping cost - 77.48 HKD. Convert to sgd around $13.

I'm more concern about the warranty though. If anything wrong have to send back to US? Shipping cost bear by owner?

I just placed my order at Linke Computer. :s13::super:

They have the 120Gb Vertex 2 Extended, but they placed it in the wrong category:
http://www.linkecomputer.com/products/1009514/OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G/OCZ Technology/

Price is very good, only ~$320. Shipping ~$14, Insurance ~$6

In fact the item is so light that I added another 2 items - a Scythe 14cm fan and a Scythe Fan Controller with no increase in shipping cost. =:p

Now just to wait for items to arrive.

I faced a problem trying to install windows 7. Should I set my sata to AHCI or Compatibility in the BIOS to install windows 7 64bits? the installation was very slow and either mode hence I decided to install XP instead :(

If you are planning to install Win 7 on SSD, best to set it to AHCI. It is slow during installation due to slowness of the optical drive pal. No worries on that. Try saving everything to a fast USB drive to install Win 7 and you will see a vast difference. I know the slowest part is is when the drive needs to read contents and unpack for installation. After that, everything will be really speedy. Anyway, no damage will be done if you don't install the Toolbox. It is just a wiper tool to make sure the drive stays in tip top performance if your OS don't support TRIM.

Patriot Inferno 120GB, Corsair F120 120GB, OWC Extreme Mercury Pro 120GB and Intel X25-M 160GB Tested
SandForce solid state drives seem to be the hotness in the market right now, and why wouldn't they be? The SandForce controllers are popular pieces of technology for a reason: their design allows for dispensing with drive cache, and they perform awfully fast. It's no surprise many manufacturers have produced drives based on SandForce hardware, and today we have the 120GB Patriot Inferno SSD (PI120GS25SSDR) on the bench.

thanks!

Would XP or Win 7 run faster on ssd? Cos am perfectly fine on XP and kind of lazy to reinstall win 7 now.. though still holding on the genuine key..

Yup, Intel SSD is probably the only SSD brand where Singapore prices are comparable to Newegg/other online store prices.

$290 is definitely on par with Newegg and cheaper than Linke Computer.
If aiming for that, good price to hoot. :s12::s12:
