are you going to put your SSD in the caddy? got an ext enclosure for the exist superdrive?

I'm sure you can find it on eBay... The external enclosure for superdrive is also bought from the same seller.

As for the DIY part you can visit ifixit.com and the steps are really clear and definitely easy when you have the right tools for it. I even opened my friend's iMac to swap out his HDD for him before. Hence I have confidence in this operation.

Anyway it will be nice if you can let us know when you received yours. I will then have a rough gauge on the shipping times.

I ordered an ocz vertex 2 120gb from newegg via borderlinx... 1st time connect the drive detected and can install window 7 pro 64bit but half way during installation error prompt. "update window" so i restart and from there the drive can't be detected by my bios... i anyone had experience this before, kindly share with me how you fix it?

Anyone had experience in the rma process of the drive? Do I send back to newegg or send to ocz directly? damn sad now...

Anyway, I'm sure the people in the forums can solve for you. Doesn't sound like a really bad problem, since it wasn't a DoA. Probably a Windows driver problem or something like that.

(just to re-assure you.... I'm not expert enough since I never install SSD before)

i am using a mid 2009 mbp 15".

For the DVD rom, there is no tray, so i need to pop off the bezel to make the ext enclosure work?

Congrats! Amazon/Newegg/Linke it's all good.

You might even get yours faster than me. Linke Computer's Vertex 2 is on backorder, can only ship Friday/Monday, so I'll only get mine probably end of next week.

Mine arrived at hopshopgo today .. got delayed as it actually arrved on Sat but no one there to receive it so today hopsopgo will collect and process it.

if all goes well, shld get it by this wed/thurs knowing that it takes 3 days for them to DHL over.

seriously.. for items a few hundred dollars... and with movement of USD within a month or so.. its not gonna make a lot of different to make the wait worth it..

is it still a recommended ssd to buy? i'm only using it as OS drives. games will not be installed on this drive. only my regular anti-virus, web browsers and etc utilities and programmes that don't take up too much space.

For Intel SSD, cheaper to buy in Singapore. That model would around $290 in SG.
If you absolutely must buy, then yes it's a good item to get. But if can wait, Intel's Gen3 is around the corner - Feb 2011.

Did u also notice that Singapore has zero retailers listed?
I think it's the same situation, they get from disti so only the disti is listed.
