It is a 500GB HDD with only abt 4GB of SSD on it. It will then analyze your disk access whenever you use it, and store the most frequently accessed data on the SSD for faster loading.

I have a desktop with SATA , can i use this 2.5" ?

I'm using it with desktop now as I upgraded my notebook drive to SSD. The 4Gb cache is too small and I'm not getting much benefit from it.

The XT only improved speeds on laptop where I only run MSOffice and firefox, then the cache of 4Gb is enough to cache the OS plus these small programs.

I will probably move the XT to a netbook.

The price of XT for desktop, might as well buy a S$99 30Gb SSD + regular HDD. (of course, even better is to order a US$99 50Gb Vertex 2 from amazon).

Yes. Just need a physical bracket to hold it in place. Almost all SSDs are 2.5", and a lot of pple in this thread (apparently?) )uses SSD..

can anyone help to give me some comment why my intel320 80gb giving me that low speed at all tests comparing with those benchmark review?
Im using hp dv6 with i7-2630,win7,8gb ram,ati radeon 6770m. I think the hardwares should enough to drive it to higher speed.

This is almost same as my previous test using my ol dell inspiron 1420 with just 4gb ram,T6xxx processor.

i has tested with intel 320 80gb that newly installed in my old dell inspiron 1420. The rest of read & write speed is quite comparable with their benchmark test except random read/write 4KB,which is 50% lower than the benchmark test. I think 10mb/s is not an acceptable performance right?
Anything I can do to increase the speed on this part?

GOOD IDEA

yes, just load the prog in the 30GB and run the data in the other regular HD
or keep those video projects on SDD when working on them.

Sounds quite workable.

OK, how about the motherboard etc. Doesnt TRIM needs something
on the motherboard. I have a 865G chipset with Pentium 4 CPU 3.0
( yeah, its an artifact )
Will that work?

What cluster size do you use when formatting SSDs? Same as the page size?

Files deleted still show until perform a refresh

Do you all encounter when after deleting or move a file, that file
will still show there until I press F5 refresh or right click refresh?
Don't remember previously having this issue until recently

hey guys, i just bought a intel ssd 320 series, basically the boot up time takes a bout 37 seconds and shutdown time takes about 30 seconds, how can i further reduce the speed. I am running on xp. Is there anything i can change in the bios?
