Guys.. i think i am screwed... i realised my MB has 3 SATA 3.0 GB/s and 1 SATA 6.0GB/s ports. the 6.0 port is being covered by my GFX card and there's no way i can plug my SSD into it. its toop cramp.

if i plug it into the 3.0GB port isn't it gonna be running at a lower speed?

Can sumone help?

thx. was planning to get the 320 series instead to save money..wonder if there's any big diff

Huge difference in benchmarks if comparing Intel 320 series to newer SATA 6gb/s models.

In real world (non-power users), I would say the difference is minimal. Go for it if the price difference is big.

hi guys,

I need help. Previously i was using a 64gb m4 ssd and recently i got a new 256gb m4 ssd. I gave my 256gb m4 to my friend to install windows 7 OS and then eventually i put the new 256gb ssd into my desktop replacing the old 64gb.

But i got an error, 'bootmgr is missing' i tried messing around with the bios but i am still not able to boot up the os from the ssd.

I saw my friend boot up windows 7 from the ssd without any problems on his cpu but mine pops up the 'boot mgr is missing error' Anybody can help?

You installed Win 7 on another computer then placed it into your own? That wouldn't work..

Anyway check if your BIOS is booting from the correct drive, change the new 256GB to the first boot device.

For SandForce based SSD, does it have speed issue? Can anyone verify whether the rated speed can only reachable on out of the box or formatted state. If there are data written on it, it would be slower.

I read from a site. On HDTune test, read speeds over sectors containing data gets a lower reading and rated speed can be seen over empty sectors. Is this true?

Ok, I found the article on SandForce performance

Tom's Hardware - Exploring The Performance Of A Full SandForce-Based SSD

Is it true regarding SandForce performance?

hey guys,

thanks for replying. my friend and my computer both have different specs. i tried rebooting and adjusting bios but still to no avail. the ssd is inside the bios and i booted from the new ssd but still can't boot up and they ask to switch to proper hard driv.

Yes i have a 1 tb hdd and 500gb hdd extra. What should i do if i wanna replace my 60 gb ssd with my new 256 gb? any steps would be appreciated.

I did this method because my old ssd only has os inside of it. so i thought i can just install a new os on the new ssd and just swap and it would sync

u need to repair the bootmgr.

ask yr friend lent u his OS disc..

then unplug the rest of the hdd.. plug in the 256SSD.. make sure settings in bios can detect and is correct..

then repair the windows the installation using the OS disc.. boot into the OS installation and then repair the windows.. it should work :)
