in 120 and 128gb range, which ssd is e best in term of value+performance+stability?
currently is m4 but adding those new ssd. still same?

like wat u say, the rest r all quite new so not much track record. performance diff actually not much in real world but only in benchmark. like wat most pple say, u can hardly go wrong w crucial m4. just like last time they say abt intel :s42:

what's the best program to clone my current HDD to new HDD? Just bought the M4 today. Basically it's a SDD (Force) to SDD(M4), so do I still need to worry about alignment?

Actually you can just check the alignment on your current SSD before cloning over. If the partition starting offset is wrong (not divisible by 4096), then I would suggest a clean install of Windows 7 as Windows 7 does that automatically.

Also, if you initially did a clean install of Windows 7 on your current SSD, chances are that your alignment is already correct.

To check the alignment of your SSD's partition, it is quite simple.

In windows 7, run msinfo32 by typing it into the search box on your start menu and hitting enter.

click on: components => storage => disks

Look for your SSD and check the partition starting offset.

It needs to be divisible by 4096 (ie return a whole number when you divide by this) otherwise the alignment is not correct.

I managed to clone my Corsair Force 3 60GB to my new Crucial M4, using

1) EaseUS Todo... to clone.
2) Paragon Alignment tool ... to align

Now can be divided by 4096. :D

Brought this yesterday @ SLS for S$79 which double up as external docking station for the old SATA HDD. Astone DOC-232 Dual Hard Drive Clone Dock Duplicator - 2.5"/3.5" SATA to USB 3.0

Guys, I just got a Crucial M4 from bestbuy and would like to clone with my existing HDD.

Do I use the below method, as mentioned by porcy?

I am currently using Windows 7 Ultimate,

Why does it mean by divisible by 4096

1 last qns, is there any specific procedure i need to do on my crucial m4 before i proceed? i mean specifically for crucial m4, like firmware upgrade and etc?

If you search the Storage forums, there seems to be some issues with latest Fw 000F for Macs.

Some people prefer to use it as it is (0309).

For me I updated it to 000F using bootable usb drive before cloning, so far no issues.

Bought this :128GB BP3 Bullet Proof 3 mSATA III (6G) SSD Solid State Drive from MyDigitalSSD @ US$167 with shipping while in USA and install in my T420 express slot. still testing it before transferring OS to it.
