icic. thanks. asking bcos laptop already 2+ years old and doubt acer will bother to answer. as laptop still going strong, thought of getting 2x250GB SSD (one to replace HDD and another to replace optical drive) as a minor upgrade. but will drop acer an email and hope to hear their replies.

Might be a little late to reply now, but you can consider the 480GB model below.

Not sure how much of a good deal is this... Posted by bizgram.

Ah... Well, that's a good choice too. I suppose you didn't swap out the optical drive? Anyway, 240GB should be plenty if you're using just for work. Just store your non important data on a portable HDD.

Enjoy the speed boost that comes with your SSD!

haha actually i did. now using the intel 530 as the main os/app/game drive and the old HDD within the optical bay caddy as the secondary drive. best of both worlds! couldn't have known such good deals without the SIC from all the people here! :):)

Hi

May i know the diff between a "reseller kit" & "drive only" ?

Reseller kit comes with everything, CD and sata cable. Drive only is just the ssd itself only, in anti-static i presume.

Only the reseller kit qualifies for free shipping to SG, not the "drive only" version.

Any lights?
You will now need to test on another system. Otherwise, it would be DOA.

guys i got a huge problem.

ive got a ux302lg replaced a intel 530 ssd into it...its ok as it detects it...

so i carried on and installed win 8 pro using the original iso...everything swee swee drivers and all, win update too...there after i went to store to update to win 8.1....once it downloads finish and restarts it does its thing for a while and gives me a error report...shuts down and goes straight into bios as the ssd is no more detected....i need to shut it down from bios, start it up again then it will say windows failed to update...ive made sure all drivers are the latest and also updated the fw of the ssd....

so i went on and gotten the win 8.1 pro iso thinking it would be ok....instead the installation cant even detect the ssd at all...

can i conclude this intel ssd not compatible wif my laptop and 8.1? if so im planning to go buy a samsung ssd..

Looks like the sandforce chipset is still not on par with crucial or samsung...

New firmware for Intel530SSD available from Intel, see below:-

Hi All,

The new firmware for the Intel® SSD 530 Series is now available.

Windows* users can download version 3.2.0 of the Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox at:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...?DwnldID=18455
(Firmware updates are part of the Toolbox download).

After installing the new version of the Toolbox, simply click the Firmware Update button to start the update process.

Non-Windows users can download version 2.0.9 of the Intel® Solid-State Drive SATA Firmware Update Tool and User Guide at:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...?DwnldID=18363

Instructions for using the Firmware Update tool are in the User Guide.

We are confident that the new firmware will fix the issue of drives not being seen on restart. We
would appreciate it if you would confirm that your restart issue is fixed by posting a comment to this thread.

Thanks for your patience while we completed development and testing of this firmware update.

SSD must be in AHCI mode... if not crawling.

For Samsung SSD, load the Magic program and turn on rapid mode... your 840 Evo will fly...
