Most of the aircraft fielded in Syria are attack/bomber types. Meant for close air support to ground troops and taking down ground targets.

It's a good thing that there is almost no air combat capability from ISIS.

nope, F-111 was not in US service. it was superceded by the F-14 becos of a lot of design problem. grumman jit tao replaced it with F-14, only reusing the engines. the americans built a handful few for testing niah.

the design was however slightly modified and sold to aussies. they had 24 planes but i think decom in 2010 liao.
