Hello gurus,

After so much lurking here and gathering info, finally decided to build my rig. Would really like to hear the suggestions from the experts here.

CPU + MB : i5-4460 + Asus h97 Pro Gaming (410) ~ Tradepac
GPU : MSI nVidia 980 ti (1150) ~ PC theme (need to check stock)
PSU : Superflower Leadex Full Modular 80+ 650W (149) ~ Tradepac
HDD2 : WD Blue 1 TB (75) ~ Tradepac
Case : Fractal Design R5 Titanium/Black Window (169) ~ ????
Optical : Samsung oem drive (24)~????
OS: Window 8.1 Pro 64 bit (32) ~ g2a.com

Total : $ SGD 2000+

I've already got my RAM (Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Black (HX318C10FBK2/16))
and SSD (Samsung 850 evo 250GB SSD)(both out of my 2k budget)
and my choice of monitor would be Dell U2515H (not part of 2k budget too).

Please suggest me on where to get those components with ???? and would I be able able to get those cpu+mobo bundle price from just buying 4 parts from tradepac?

Plan to game on 1440p on current AAA titles and some old games, and WoW. Would love to know if there are any cheap monitors with g-sync around 600 sgd. Otherwise, I'd go with Dell till i can afford them.

Don't plan to upgrade at all for at least 3 or 4 years, unless it's broken. Which is why i am wiling to pay extra for the quality of the components.

thanks to @idjekyll and laccas, i basically copy their rigs :D

This is nearly exactly my rig! I got the Zotac AMP! edition 980ti instead and so far working perfectly. No whine, temps are low (with adjusted fan profile). Got close to 1k for that unit (instead of >1.1k your quoting for the MSI. Think if you are not overclocking the card more can consider the AMP!. The AMP! should also have some more headroom but I'm not OCing.

Case wise - i got the Arc Mini R2 which is a great m-itx case. Super easy to clean and install new stuff, just right form factor and clean look. Keep in mind the other Fractals are really quite big.

I was recently also debating on the monitor. Ended up getting the 1440p Dell U2715H which i am very satisified with.

At your budget, you can either choose a 1080 144hz 24 inch, or a 1440p 60hz 27 inch. I really wouldnt recommend a 25 inch 1440p as the pixel density will make your eyes bleed (already quite small on the 27 inch). A 980ti can run all AAA games (save for poorly optimised ones) at 60 fps on ultra / max settings. If you play more competitive FPS, then probably the 144hz 1080p monitor will be better for your uses.

There are very few Gsync monitors.

If you want that technology, advise swapping the 980ti for the FuryX and get the Benq XL2730z (cant rmb its about 900) that is 1440p 144z with freesync as well. Downside is this is a TN panel so colours wont look as good as the Dell U series but it checks all the performance boxes. The Dell U2715H is around 680-740 depending on warranty length.

Rather upgrade SSD to 500GB with free vaccum cleaner and spend lesser on motherboard.

Thanks for the heads up , terra. I may have referenced some part of your rigs too :D

Like you said, I don't plan to (manually) OC any part of my rigs. Was initially considering Pallit but chose MSI coz of the popular reviews: temps and good performance. it fits the red theme too lol.

My initial planned rig was mini-atx and arc mini was pretty ideal. I change my mind now and switch to Asus h97 (which I think it is ATX mb) so dont' think ARC can have enough room for the board.

Rather upgrade SSD to 500GB with free vaccum cleaner and spend lesser on motherboard.

too late bro, already purchased my SSD :s13:, i know i could hv gone with cheaper board but still paying for premium :/

Thanks for all suggestion bros.

So is 25" inch monitor really undesirable at 1440p? so many bros here not recommend it :s11:

Dell U2715H is $809 on online store (3Yr Wty), $760 at Best Denki and 799 at chalenger (both 5 yr Wty). way out of my budget apparently.

Looks fine to me, though you could go for a Fury X as well

AMD/ATI is dead to me, bro. Never had a good time with overheating and problematic driver of my HD5870 (i know it's pretty old but still ). May consider for next gpu after 980ti. :D

Ah ok, yea ATX mb doesnt fit in the smaller case then. Just to highlight that if you dont intend to use many mb features, then a smaller one would serve just as well also. Have no issues with mine, since i dont intend to SLI / add more than 16gb ram etc.

Dell U2715H is 739 from PC themes with 5 year warranty. If you have corporate discounts, can get for <700 and select lower warranties. Got a quote for 689 before.

Opps. i think somehow lost my reply. I'll keep it short this time.

Looks like I should bought every remaining part from PC theme lol if they can give better pricing compared to Tradepac.
hmm either I increase the budget a bit more for 27" or downgrade my mobo a few class. The thing is i don't like asrock and killer network cards. Have seen bad review about that NIC.

thanks for the monitor info bro ! I am gonna give them a call on whether got more discount :D

Lol both NVidia and ATI give me problems before, so they are the same to me :s22:

Well since you want to try NVidia camp, I won't stop you. The 980Ti is a really good card anyway :s13:

Exactly, it's something new to try and well within my budget . if only g-sycn 1080p 144Hz monitor aren't that expensive, i'd have stil stayed at 1080p.

@kaixax555, wish me luck with nvidia lol. seriously can't stop those G/BSOD from bad drivers .

@Coool11, from what i 've seen from review, G1 did slightly better than MSI when OC. May be Jian can give more insight.

If he is a fanboy he would have never touch any of the AMD/ATI GPU as he did back then with his HD 5870. It's all plain personal experience and judgement.
