Suggestion on building a PC

Hi,

I have come out with the specs for building a desktop. Need some pros suggestion and feedback to see if its okay with such build.


Processor: Intel LGA 1151 i5-7400 $236*

Motherboard: Asrock B150M Pro4 $153*

Graphics: MSI GTX1060 Aero ITX DDR5 6GB* $369*

SSD: SAMSUNG EVO 850 250GB** $146*

PSU: SEASONIC S12II-Non MODULAR 520W $84*

HDD: Toshiba SATA3 7200rpm 1TB $54*

RAM: KINGSTON DDR4 2400 (8GB) $114*

Casing: Cooler Master Elite 431 PLUS ATX USB 3.0 $67*

Total : $ 1223

As for monitor i have a budget of $200. Wonder if is possible to get at this range. Normally use it for casual gaming like dota 2. Not hardcore gamers

are you really on a tight budget? otherwise, i would have some suggestions to make. this is by me, personally if it was for my own rig.

don get asrock mobo. see if can get asus/msi/gigabyte.
psu: try to get corsair and semi modular..
monitor: you can take a look at this monitor. AOC i2367FH. its 23", IPS display. been using it. its reasonable good, price wise it cost: $209.

Not sure if there is stock in Sim Lim for i5-8400. The cheapest CPU+Mobo bundle is about $460. It is 6-core and 6-threads. Better value than the i5-7400.

If really on a budget, can consider i3-8350k, but you need to buy a cooler for this.

The coolermaster masterbox lite 3.1 is not bad if you are on a budget. But it is MATX only.

Your build is good, I can see that you have done your research.

For the monitor I saw on Sitex 2017 brochure there was a dell p2317h going for 199. You can try asking around if you can still get it at that price.

Actually, if you're just playing Dota2 or less graphic intensive games, you probably don't need a dedicated graphics card; the integrated graphics from 7400 will do just fine. If you want something a bit more, a 1060 3gb card should probably suffice.

Get a GTX 1060 3GB instead if you only casual gamer, the money saved, use it to get a i5 7500 instead, 7400 is the cut down version.

Get Cooler Master N200 MATX case instead, better internal design, quality and airflow.

Plenty of monitor on Lazada for $200 or less, have a look.

why are the 2017 accounts giving bad advice here?

For PSU look at the PSU tier list https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/ choose whichever you want which meets your price point from TIER 1, 550w is enough. I will go for modular psu, easier to build in. Seasonic are one of the top and affordable PSU, corsair is a premium.

GPU if you can afford it why not, if you want to save cash just go for Zotac or Palit. Which you can then use the money saved there for a better CPU + MOBO bundle.

Everything else looks good, i would buy another stick of ram to run dual channel though.

Yeah joshuaho and Rashkae is right.

In my defence tho, the most value-added gfx card is probably a 1060. That said, paying 300ish bucks just to play dota and have it look pretty seems expensive to me. And shelling 200ish bucks for a 1050 is for a (in my opinion) sub-par gfx card feels off too.

But yea, i'm not all that seasoned in this anyways. so I apologize if I made bad baad advice.

Well the 1060 will give him overall better frame rates and a smoother gameplay for a lot of games. It's more like a 1-2 year future proofing.

Plus, you can mine on it.

I'm trying to fit everything nicely with a budget of 1.2k.

Pro4 has more PCIe slots, more sata and USB ports. Up to you to see whether you need. And also you should definitely get a graphics card.

Please don’t game on integrated....trust me it’s gonna be a bad experience.

Oh okay noted!!

And yes i will be going for either MSI GTX 1060 6GB O.C V2 TWIN FAN or MSI GTX 1060 Aero ITX DDR5 6GB. Still not sure which 1 to pick on but i think both serves almost the same purpose as long as its GTX 1060?
