Hello mods, I have been seeing mepick opening lots of thread and communicating with others in edwm. I am aware that she is not mentally well. I am worried for her. Can something be done for her safety?

I believe she still will make another account if she is banned permanently. Is it possible to prevent her from starting thread in HWZ, limit the amount of replies she can make in HWZ and prevent other users from sending PMs to her? Can also remove her sign off where she has indicated her personal information such as her name, FB and Linkedin?

Should anyone knows her parent, please talk to them about this too.

Sorry if I am tagging at the wrong thread. I am not sure where else to post and I really hope to minimise the dangers that mepick will encounter. Thank you.

What is your point on this matter.
Are you willing to assist someone like her.

It is good for someone in that state of mind to open up to say something.
In this way then there will be others willing to come in to assist and provide some form of help if needed.

A person in this type of mental state of health is not easily identified.
If such as person is to keep it to himself or herself then there is danger where nobody will able to know.
You may not be able understand on the condition and the way how he/she suffer .. in silence.

As a matter of fact, there are fellow members helping her on in one way or other.
This is a good sign that there do have fellow members stepping in to assist and look after such person who really in need of help.

Family members do have limit in helping their mental child or sibling.
Usually it is the outsider who are the one who can assist.
In this way, i would say family members will be happy to know that there do have others to be able to help their child or sibling.

I do know you may be trying to help.
But please do understand more on people who have mental health problem.

Do you think the amount of members that are helping her outnumbered the members that are trolling (harming) her?

The root of her problem is she is not sticking to her med routine as such Anything can become a source of trigger as long as she is skipping her meds.
The main cause isn't Internet and it isn't fair to design things around her.
Her family members or someone close to her shall be responsible for that
As Ive said, as long as she skips her meds, anything will become a trigger to her because of her mental condition, so do not take her words seriously

I don't think that members trolling here is the main issue here.
Internet forums can be ignored or "say anything you like" comments without saying out right in front of the person.
That is without much visually &or physically contact.

Hence the support she need is her family members and those around her physically.

The other point as what Nevereatrice mentioned "is she is not sticking to her med routine.."
Med do have a role in to minimize the effect of a person mood.
This is true as i am & was on taking these medicine for 15 years while in this state of mental health.
Any lapse to take med can have sever effect on ones mood and thought.

Family members are crucial to the mental person, which i had faced before.
Reliable friends & buddies are a form of substitute but there are limits to it.

It is quite normal to be in & out of IMH, which i was also had done before.
This is one way of getting help as soon as possible when there is relapse.

The main root of mental health of a person is what "trigger" that cause the change of mood & depression to takeover.

I will weigh in on this topic in my own personal capacity as a forumer and not as a moderator.
My views represents myself and not Hardwarezones’

There are two strong and distinct proponents on how we should treat Mipick here.

The greater good theory is leaned towards the fact that we should permanently ban her, for the greater good and well being of her mental health state. However, while an admin / moderator can do just that (plus any future clones that pops up), the repercussions of such an action is unknown. I am of the view that it will further aggravate her current condition and that’s not what we ultimately want.

We do not want to push a person who is genuinely asking for help (in some way or another) to her wits end.

While I do hear and understand the concern that certain posts are negatively directed towards mepick (do report those posts if you see them),
I do see that the Edmw forum community is emphatic towards genuine cases. Posting here allows her to express her thoughts - which may be a good thing for her overall.

HardwareZone Forums is a platform for people to share thoughts in a socially-acceptable and amicable way. As such, moderators' role entail them to ensure that exchanges are in that way.

However, members are responsible for their own condition and/or behavior. We cannot be caretakers. While your concern for your fellow member is encouraging, you should not expect to shackle her expressions, especially when it's not outright detrimental to the forum.

Basically, mepick should be able to handle herself or enlist help of someone who can assist her in person. The forum should not be the one to intervene.

as lyfeforce said, while its not practical for us to give her special treatment or attention.
the community can report any cyber bullying posts (as they do for other members and not just her) and we will investigate.
Of course if she post anything out of line, she will be infracted and banned like other members
However anything she choose to do outside of forum is really out of our jurisdiction.
