hi!! hmm thats true about the dropping out thing but i probably wouldn't want to do that as we would need to pay a lot if we drop out after matriculating or even after attending the lessons so i would want to think carefully :s22:

hi!! thanks for the reply! :) yup but i went to check the financial aid but seems like the amount given to students for unisim moe bursary is lower than other local uni? :s22: and does it mean civil sector don't really hire graduates from GE?
is that so? Well I didn't rlly check it hahah afterall it's a pri uni so we enjoy partial privileges I guess it takes time:') well not trying to discourage you but those that I know of rlly struggled to get a job or still finding I'm sure there are ppl who succeeded studying in ge.. just that idk the stats. Unisim intern opportunities also rlly open up in helping you to secure a job or in any case they might even take U in of let's say ur work is satisfactory. Esp that accounting degree has internship opportunities with the big 4 and other firmssss I find it really attractive haha. And ofc the accredition its on par for all grads from the 6unisss if let's say they want to take up sqp but at the end of the day the choice is urs at it is ur future. So make a good one!!

oh and yesss it's rlly hard to get into civil service with a private degree. Unisim is some what recognize as it has government support (huge subsidies for pt program)whereas ge is rlly to work in private firmsss or overseas as it is well recognised on a global perspective

Yeah I initially thought it was only for students who were undecided about the offer as well but surprisingly I've met people who already accepted and attended just to ask more questions about the course :) And yup, I believe most of the students have/are waiting for offers from another school, so its difficult to gauge how the accpetance rate would be like.

And yup! the 6 month work attachment is one of the main reasons why I decided to take up the course. Its especially advantageous for Accountancy students as UniSIM has partnerships with reputable companies for their work attachments. The compulsory overseas experience was another reason for my decision as this will probably be my last phase of education I would prefer to have a hollistic university experience, and I believe UniSIM will be able to provide me with that.

Hopefully your niece and your son will get the offer in the second window! Fingers crossed for them! :)

beware that the compulsory overseas experience is limited in scope if you have limited finances. Almost half the cohort signed up to head to korea for summer school because of the exorbitant prices in western countries.

my take is, don't treat it as an end all. you can easily get overseas experience in other Unis as well. This is coming from someone in FT unisim.

Lessons are few, but are designed to be very hands on and interactive (you are supposed to be prepared for the class using e learning resources). I feel that this method saves alot of time and it gives students that much more motivation to be involved in their study. Of course, that takes a lot of discipline.

Quality of teachers so far, are extremely good, 95% are local and have outstanding credentials. I'm speaking for the common core subjects.

As for the main core (whatever major you will be majoring in), I have only encountered Accounting and Econs professors. So far, they are great too but i heard that the quality of teaching might not be consistent between classes. so there is a fight (not literal) amongst FT students to pick desired professors for their classes.

Professors are always willing to do consultations during curriculum time which is, I feel, really useful when you want to clarify any doubts.

Yeah I was told as well! I presume money would still be a limiting factor in other schools as well when it comes to overseas experience. However its possible to integrate both overseas experience with service learning/work attachment right? :)

This is really helpful, thank you! As much as many people are skeptical about UniSIM's over-reliance of self-learning methods, I feel that its a practical way to discipline ourselves because our bosses won't be spoon feeding us when we go out to work and we'll have to figure many things out by ourselves. Then again, knowing that the professors are of good quality and helpful puts me at ease :)

Anyway for those enrolling this year, hello coursemates! :D

It is probable for your first point. Complicated in real life to arrange though. You might want to clarify with the school first regarding overseas experience, what you can do and cannot do.

But yes, teaching quality is definitely of a much higher standard say compared to GE side, from what I hear so far. So congratulations and take the chance well.

Hello UniSIM schoolmates. Anyone has any materials relating to FIN367 (Alternative Investments), FIN351 (Corporate Finance), FIN357 (Fixed Income Securities) to share? Please kindly PM me. I'm happy to share some of my other module materials with you if I have as well. Thank you!

If I rmb correctly I think there is, but most of it were quite highly priced items that were "discounted". If you're budget is about 1.6k and above, then you can consider. But if you're looking at cheaper laptops, then probably go for PC show. SIM bookshop does have some promotions for Mac though I'm not too sure if the discounts are good (not a mac user). But I know some of my friends bought Mac through the school promo.

Hi! Just wondering if anyone opted for FTHR in reserve list and got their acceptance or rejection email?

The email stated that reply will be in 2nd week of June but no response from them till now. Does it mean that I am rejected?
