Yup, this website has a lot of interesting tips - do sign up for their weekly newsletter :)

Nice contribution. Noticed how the swimmer sink his shoulder the moment his hand land into the water. His head position keep as still while the arm is moving and body roll.

Very good website... thanks for sharing. :)

No worries - we all love to swim so if I can help a fellow swimmer, why not? :)

First thing I always tell my students - never fight the water...hahah

Stroke > strength :s13:

For swim, hand swing 1st or leg kick 1st?
Hahaha..

INCORRECT. A good catch will have you caressing the water, locking on and pressing the water back behind you. Contrast this to what most swimmers do - pressing the water down at the front of the stroke rather than back. Pressing water down creates a lot of pressure on the palm because you are changing the direction of the water flow (from towards you to downwards). When you change to a good technique and start to pull the water back behind you - helping it on its way - you could well feel less pressure on the palm.

Leg kick first... follow by hand swing.

There is always a pull and the push from start of stroke to end of stroke. The push phase come in after the elbow is higher than palm.

Wow, that's good. Learnt from a grand master of swimming

But the training methods are so different now...

Techniques have also changed so much - I am still constantly relearning my strokes :o

1) Willing to share how different is the training method now ? Can show an example video clips ?

2) How has the technique changed ?

3) What strokes are you learning/revising now ? Front crawl, butterfly, back stroke or breastroke ?

Nice avatar :) You must be a breaststroker .

I tried to relax, but find that i will swim at a very very slow speed.

LOL

I think it's not being relaxed until totally nua haha

Swimming is about being efficient by using the correct amount of strength for the maximum stroke/pull

Totally agree with your statment. :) Streamline.... least disturbance to the body movement as much as possible whenever we are moving our head to breathe.... is a piece of art. :)

All you have to do is overcome the fear.

Step by step.
Inhale, hold your breath and head goes half in water,
Blow bubble till no gas then head out of water.

Then
Do the same but whole head goes in

Then
Do the same but with eyes open.

If by last phase you can keep calm (check heartbeat) then you can start doing more. :)

Maybe most of you know already, but I didn't until I saw this vid which made it quite clear how the elbows should rotate until forearms are perpendicular to swimming direction before pulling.

Got any video show how the legs kick and hand swing correctly?I mean both are control correctly...
