I've been doing this to remind myself to breathe out fully when my head in the water. I still can't break the habit of breathing in and out at the same time. I do this in a 2-stroke - breathe - 4-stroke - breathe - 6 stroke - breathe - repeat.

Hi Xerref, I suggest you blow bubbles and do the counting in your heart. Making sure that the bubbles that you blow are continuous, consistent when your head is under the water and count.
So the steps goes like this.
1) Inhale fully while your head is out of water.
2) Submerge head, blow and do the counting 1-2-3 while blowing.
3) Head out of the water after counting 3
4) Go to step 1 and repeat.

Having successfully achieve the above step, Next try to blow and count 1-2-3-4-5 so you will realize you need to blow smaller and longer now.

Happy new year to all and have a good and blessed year ahead. Please take note that most of the public pool will be closed at 5pm on the second day of new year being 1st Feb 2014. :)

Hi boardbear, yes. There are plenty of video on TI which u can view and observe.

Swimming is really about technique and have a better feel of water with your hand, arm. Learn sculling. Make whirlpool.... That is proven to show your good sculling skill. :)

In freestyle swimming, there is a relationship between the leg kicking and arm action. Both must sync with each other.
The arm action has a pull-push phase in the water. Watch more YouTube swimming and observe their arm and leg movement.

IM.. yes..can do...favourite is kick like dolphin

TI.. yes..can do....sweet spot..skating..under/upper/over zipper switch..ya.. swim like fish

Bilateral breathing technique.. yes..can do...breathe on both sides..like gills of fish

"dun always swim boring laps".. yes agreed..open water..can do..but..be careful of riptides..winds...sudden change in weather...jelly fish..fishing lines drifted by fishermen or boats... watch out for coconuts which drift from nowhere..make sure they don't suddenly pop from nowhere..and..ya..being "pulled" by underwater current..debris...wear coloured cap..for..nobody will be crazy to..swim..open water..

"manage a continuous 3km in just over an hour".. open water.. can do also..with supervision of course..somebody just need to spot for.. sh***s..

Here we are taking example of common popular group average timing not from elite or hardcore swimmer....
For sprint 50m... Average good timing is about 45 sec.
For long distance swim, 50m average good timing is 1min.

any tips for doing the backstroke flip turn? how many pulls from the flag?

I still can't perform my normal flip turn smoothly all the time, sometimes I tend to veer to the side when I kick off
not sure what's the problem

come i teach you
remb this bery important rule hokay
the moment you turn one last stroke of the arm you must turn at the wall liao
if you add 1 more stroke of the arm you'll be disqualified cos you're doing front crawl riao

Anyone knows whether the new Aquatic Pool at the Kallang Sports hub will be open to public use when there's no competition? Really don't mind trying it out. Will it be under the SSC?
