For train travellers, there are public buses in Katoomba to Echo Point or an ideal way to take in the sights is the hop on, hop off Blue Mountains Explorer Bus. Starting from Katoomba Station the big red bus travels in a giant loop, stopping at all the major attractions from Scenic World to Leura.

It really depends on where you are going to and what you want to do. Generally there isn't really a right or wrong time, unless you're, e.g. looking for snow in summer.

Possible to take train to blue mountain instead?

yes. take on sunday. unlimited travel on public transport for less than $3 on sunday but it is usually very crowded.

take to katoomba then transfer to public bus to visit 3 sisters

can also take to wentworth falls to do the charles darwin walk to see waterfall.

Avoid taking cabs in sydney. there is one cab company called GM cabs which will 100% always cheat tourists. They will act blur and pretend to not know the destination then proceed to take the longer route. Driver will act blur when you direct them using google maps. Stupid gm cab driver cheated me by more than $40.

Normal route from airport to newtown Airport--> Mascot--> Newtown $30+ by uber

Taxi: Airport--> Highway -->Glebe--> Newtown. $70

As long as you're in a public and reasonably crowded area, I would have walked off without paying.

is not so much of avoid taking cabs in syd....

is u need to have a specific cab cluster to go to.

I used to call them when i was in syd. half of their customers are regular work travellers like i am. they are scheduled themselves back to back. I misplace the contacts when i shifted my residence. their lead belong to the silver cab group ack then. but its actually a cluster drivers who work tgt for $$$. they are so tightly scheduled that they dun do detour.

My suggestion would be a day or 2 in Sydney itself, plus 1 day at the Blue Mountains. You can also add a day to go to Kiama if you have spare days. That should be plenty and covers the highlights.

Thanks!

I actually am quite flexible with my days...can do up to 2 weeks in Aussie. Will be going mid April. I'll be in Melbourne for 4 days for an event(can extend longer if I find enough things to do).

Was thinking if I should fit Brisbane and/or Sydney...or anywhere else worthy?

Otherwise Sydney will likely be 2 days city, 1 day Blue Mountain (will probably take the explorer bus) and 1 day Kaima/Berry.

I'm quite big on food so very excited for the food scene for the entire trip.

Mid April is school holidays so make sure you book things early. Plenty of possibilities for a 2 weeks trip. You can consider Tasmania as well, or even something like Melbourne + parts of New Zealand.

Just got back from sydney 2 days ago. we booked on scoot and upgrade to SQ with meal and inflight TV and check-in.

Not sure still got this type of promotion going on now.

Sydney is cold a week ago and we need sweater and abit of rain too. We went to the usual blue mountain, wollogong and my friend brought us to Corulla beach. It is nice and quiet, so different from bondi beach or manly. It is too commercial.

give it a try.
