If you plan to take bus/train everyday, and multiple trips each day, then yup I would say it is.
It's simple math:
Cheapest MyMulti is like $40+
A single ride on bus is like $2.50 minimum.
If for 7 days straight, you spend about $7/day on transport, then MyMulti would save you $.

Think of MyMulti like going to the buffet. You know that the cost is fixed, so you can eat freely with peace of mind ;) Even if you catch the wrong bus/train, no worries! Just hop off and catch another one.

Sydney is DAMN big leh... Bring an electric scooter will be good... LOL
After walking from Museum to Circular Quay, will require refill of 1L of drink, which will cost more than the bus fare you saved! ;)

I'm thinking there must be a catch to the limit of $60. In that case hardly anyone would want to get MyMulti3.
hmmmmm....

I'm going to the places of interests nia... maybe 2 public transport trips per day max.

personally i find walking more fun than taking bus. Bus usually Point A to Point B, cannot deviate from the route and see things. But i'm gg in Aug so i guess the weather should be fine ba... but if i am not walking, i will take bus.. cuz when I was planning my route, take bus, i need to walk 10 min to take a 5 minute bus... so i might as well walk all the way no?

I think OPAL cards more for their locals ba... MyMulti3 is for tourist? :s12:

yea i saw that it allows me to go on the manly ferry but i think that it's unlikely i'll be going to the manly area for walks...

the only likely place that i'll be taking ferry to is to the zoo...

wad about other major/popular spots by train besides blue mtns?

maybe you can check out here? http://www.transportnsw.info/tickets/ferry i saw mymulti 2 and 3 can be used for ferry...

On a single day trip you can go all the way down to Jervis bay. A lot of driving though.

I am planning to join a whale watching cruise during my next year July trip. They saw almost 99% sighting.

im taking the train down and as usual walk to the spot cause i cant drive.. but 1hr plus to get there aint too bad..

I don't suggest going to Kiama Blowhole by public transport. I don't recall public transport being near enough. You'll end up spending a lot of time waiting. If not able to drive, suggest to skip this or seek alternative option (e.g. day tour to Wollonggong and surrounds).

Thanks for the comment...

Do you also have other suggestions for other spots? I'm going to the hurricane grill near darling harbour on first day alrdy...

You might want to consider making a reservation unless you are going early :)

i realised from google maps there are actually two blowholes, the kiama one looks walkable from kiama station itself leh, thats why we were planning to go there.. the other one does seem a little out of the way i admit...

hmmm you are right :)
Did not realize that Kiama station is fairly near to the blowhole.
The journey should take at least a couple of hours, which means you gotta start real early in order to have enough daylight to see other sights besides just the blowhole.

any of you know how long this plan will take if i start from sydney 7-8am?

day 4
http://wikitravel.org/en/One_week_in_Sydney

since i'll be going in august it will turn dark earlier...

Just read through briefly.
You're referring to the day trip to Katoomba, right?
If you follow the itinerary as described, and have dinner in Leura/Katoomba before catching the train back, probably you're looking at reaching Sydney Central station about 10+ ?
That's assuming you catch a train departing at about 8+.
