Hopefully sifus can help me understand the liquids rule for handcarry luggage

I was under the impression that the rule states that the amount of liquid carried cannot be more than 100ml

So sometimes i will have mouthwash / plain water in 500ml or more bottles, but the liquid inside only a little bit,maybe because i left 1 dose (mouthwash) or just a sip of water

Sometimes I will kenna caught by customs, they will insist cannot even thought the liquid is only a little bit
other times they let me through

I research online and the way the rules are worded seems the rule is specific to the size of the bottle, not the amount of liquid in it; so 100ml full bottle is ok but 500ml bottle with a little bit inside is not

Can someone help to clarify

You can bring in total 1000ml of liquid onto plane but the size of each container is kept at 100ml.
1) 100ml x 10 bottle(max to 1000ml)
2) 50ml x 20 bottle (max to 1000ml)

T4 is very strict.
i find t1 to t3 more relax on checking.

The 100ml rule was imposed in November 2006, after a terrorist plot involving explosives in drinks bottles was foiled.

for ladies who want to bring their whole set of beauty products.

I seen before custom chong gong their whole set of beauty product in their regular size.. more than 100 mil.

T4 is very strict.
i find t1 to t3 more relax on checking.

T4 have different way of operating thus, the difference in requirements if anyone notices.

Not true. I brought EMPTY 500ML and 1.5ML BOTTLES no issue. I dun use checked in luggage unless I not planning to get out of airport st8 after touch down so I will have to put all in hand carry
I dun like the thought of my luggage might be out there waiting for ppl to take. So if I check in luggage I will go to the belt as soon as I clear custom

Can you quote which part says that?

because all seems to suggest as long as got something inside cap is 100ml.

but never talk about empty
