i got psychology too..

but i feel liek withdrawing cause the way they put it in my timetable sucks!

mon 12 - 5 (CDS 5 - 6)
tues 12 - 5
wed 9 - 1 (CDS 4- 6)
thurs 12 - 5
fri 9 - 1

i my wed damn sad. 3 hours of break
its like neither here nor there
if i were to go home it would take around 1hr of travelling time
to and fro woudl take up 2 hrs .
so.. 1hr to rest at home not feasible rite?
but if i were to stay in sch for 3hrs what to do man -.-

can i withdraw and will it affect my reputation/grades or whatever if i do that?
Well.. u have tons to do during that 3 hours of break. Play bowling at tampines safra? Nah.. if ure in courses that are project intensive, u will be grateful with such breaks... They r a great deal for meetings and more meetings, projs and more projs. Can jus settle everything in school instead of bringing projs back home to do. Damn stress one!!! And u dont have to sacrifice conducting meetings outside school hours or during wkends..

U can try joining other cds tutorial group that suits your timetable provided that ure not skipping that particular lect for that cds tutorial... Have to go see course manager within the first week of semester for arrangement. if they isnt any good time slots and u have decided to switch cds.. CM can arrange one for u too(he/some cds head will tell u of available slots left n u can choose from there). Jus fill in some form and go talk to him.. Wont affect grade/reputation one la. I met my Course manager 3 times last semester just to switch cds, change timing etc.. Just dont fail ur cds at the end of the day can le la. If not next semester request, he gonna blacklist u worx.=:p If u wana switch cds, best is to do it fast, first come first serve basis.. If ure lucky enough, can get hot subjs like japanese or french class.

Yes! can!!! Just go fill in application form.. go course manager room outside, there will be a pc of paper on its door instructing u on the procedures. Last sem was like that, not sure about this sem.. And go talk to him about it. Get a whole list of your reasons ready to persuade him. Cock up story that ure working part time n dont wana waste time or jus tell him that u dont wana wait till sooo late esp when u dont have any lesson during 2-4.. Ask him for other timing alternative if the 2-4 is taken full. Dress more guai and decent and be more sincere. Success rate: 70-80% And also, go on first day of school!!!

And ya. CDS affects GPA. but would rather u get into one cds where u got huge interest in.. U will score better when u like that subj. Dont try to aim those course that are term as EASY TO SCORE type.. I have a whole bunch dying to get into "Using Internet As A Research Tool".. They termed it as give away GPA, but i end up seeing them learning nothin in there. Quite sadistic la.. Ure given a choice, so choose one that u can benefit out of it and can apply it in future.

i see i see.. what concerns me is that the cds actually affects GPA.

i'm quite result oriented.. so im not sure if psychology would bring me down or not
my interest level for that subj not that high

so im contemplating whether should i withdraw or continue ( provided appeal to change my tutorial time is approved)

especially after being demoralized by a business subject which i thot i would be interested in but hell i got a C and it brings down my gpa by alot!

i took psychology b4...quite easy to get a B+ if u score @ least 8 out of 10 of the open book online quiz, then there is a group project and a written test.but score high in the 30% weightage online quiz.

mixture of A, Bs and Cs.. If ure ace student all along, is no surprise that u will do well regardless of any cds ure taking.

Case scenario and in depth analysis of the characters and attitudes/behaivours, then write essay, do presentation etc.. The usual thing u know. Thats for group proj la.

hmmm.. Most cds all got online quiz. But i think whats more important is the proj part.. Do ur project really well.. Score an A, and u will be fine. If u do ur proj well right, most likely written paper shouldnt have much to memorise le. Cos u would have know everything..

Good qns!! yes can change/skip lecture as and when u like. No need to go through any course manager/tutor permission. Cos the attendence sheet is ownself sign one.. And the lecturer will bring all the attendence sheet of all classes regardless of wat timing lect along. And as long u got sign for that week can already. Thats for past semester experience. hopefully is the same.. If u dont believe right, when u go sign the attendence sheet, u can see many signatures up there already.. cos previous lect group people already sign le.

Another thing.. try to choose an easy signature right from the start to sign it. Just in case u dont feel like attending lect that week can ask ur friend sign for u.. Most lect notes can jus read it urself one.. Jus attend tutorial religiously and u will be saint!!! :D

haahah.. thanks!!
Since cds tutorial most likely everyone dont know anyone in there, take this chance to group with other people. More oftenly, when u group wit people ure close wit or ur kakis in school right, meetings all ended up talking cock, discussion end up doing nothing. Everyone will jus do slip shot work cos u guys know each other too well, and everyone takes thing tooo lightly.

Bottomline:
Meet new people in cds. Aim those brainies!!! The smart one(hint: law student). They have really power english, and their words can kill people one. Essay they produce a killer.. Comfirm will get A easily. And also, since all those group mates or not close de, most likely everyone will do their part really well.. if not very throw face.. (one law, one engine, one marketing, one IT student etc) u bettter know wat to do.. :D

Conclusion:
Avoid grouping with people u know, and keep a close watch on smart ones.. Learn from them and u will have unexpected exposure at the end of the day. U will never lose out in such group, provided ure up to their standard too.. =)
