Hey guys, anyone from School of IT ?

Just curious, for the standard year 1 modules like Problem Solving and Programming or Computer Architecture etc, will there be 1 lecture, 1 tutorial and 1 lab session per week?

How long usually is the lecture? Likewise for tutorial and lab .... someone enlighten me please.
hihi... the lec. is normally an hr per session... twice a week... tutorial will be once a week, an hr per session... lab wise very much depends... some modules are 2 week once... some are 1 week once... if i remember clearly... networking and com. arc is 2 week once de... for lab is 2 hr per session... but sometime if u met those good lec... they might let u off earlier... =] i also understand that for iiso this year... they are trying the full online lesson... with regards to this i am not sure how this online lesson thingy goes... but from my understanding the result of this is bad...

I from IT school 1 sem... took Networked Multimedia, Computer Systems, IISO, PRSP, Com Maths 2.

Netword Multimedia = 1 Lec, 2hr Lab, 1 Tut
Computer Systems = 2 Lec, 2hr Lab, 1 Tut
IISO = 2 Lec, 2hr Lab, 1 Tut
(1st Term Online Learning, 2nd term lectures) (Heard that failure rate was high during term test, thats why 2nd term no more online learning)
PRSP = 2 Lec, 3hr Lab/Tut
Com Maths 2 = 2 Lec, 1 Tut

strong_seagull and spicyboy, thanks guys. You guys totally cleared my doubts about the contact hours per week thing !:s12:

Hey you all know if it works in a flip flop system? Like if there are 8 IT-related modules, 4 are taken in by half of the students in sem 1 and the other 4 by the other half, then next semester they switch. Is it like that ?

spicyboy : The computer system module you mentioned, is it also called Computer Architecture in the course outline at TP website ? Cause i cant see this module mentioned on TP website at all. Must be a change of name from Comp Arch to Comp sys :s11: By the way how come Comp Math 2 is taken before Comp math 1 heh.

haha.. you are welcome ^^ i think there is the flip-flop system u mentioned... but only for certain modules... last year for my batch first sem... the ITO student took cmaths 1, database (FNDB) and comp arc while we (MWC) took the other two... IISO, cmaths 2 and networking... prsp is the foundation for programming in java thus all student have to take it at the same time...
like i say sometime our school abit siao siao de... certain modules should be taken before some... but due to some reasons... they put those modules(that needs foundation) first... while our foundation come later...
cmaths 1 and cmaths 2 are not very related... so still not tat bad... though one chapter is... (cant remember which chapter...)

BTW, I'm from Internet & Multimedia Development (IND). Computer Systems and Computer Architecture is the same, but I dunno why for my course, the named it as Com Sys. It doesn't matter which CMaths comes first as it has no relation to each other, although CMaths 2 only have 3 chapters (1st Chap for Term Test, 2nd & 3rd Chap for Exam).

I did not include Visual Literacy as I think only my cos have this subject (Art class.....)

If I'm not wrong, all IT cos take IISO, PRSP & NMM at the same time.

Hello everyone,
I like to know if there is a "Live" online community for TP?
something like mIRC where people would come together and virtually hang out,
but I think mIRC is dead now, so whats the current "place" to be?

Hey TP people, just a question. You guys follow a modular system now right?

So is it true that for different modules, you get different classmates for tutorials? Sometimes different diploma shares a common first year module, so you may even end up with mixed diplomas students in a tutorial class.

Like that it is true that you get different classmates every semester right?

I know where to check it, just a matter of when to check it.

The timetable should be out sometime next week. Usually the last week of the holidays.
