Any idea how Soon the index funds must complete their purchase ?

They must complete by 21st dec. Else they will not be able to replicate s&p returns and cause tracking errors.

Index funds will need to buy 100m+ shares and free float will reduce to 600m+

does it matter to wait?

the market already priced in by yesterday's jump

can't be that it will go up more due to SNP buying?

Thats the intial jump and the announcement was in AH

Now all investors getting FOMO
Waiting to buy tesla

The upside is huge just like last time apple buyback their shares

This morning woke up and found TSLA post trading price range at 462-463 range but last night closure at 40x range.. I thought there were software bugs, this triggered a GTC sell order at $460.

Luckily only selling a few shares, convention of locked in partial profits before keeping for long term.

Hope to see TSLA to head back to $500 range.

The upside based on the inclusion alone is not as huge as you might think. So yeah, the price will go up initially because of S&P500 funds buying in.

But remember on the other hand, other non-S&P500 funds that are heavy on TSLA or already have a decent weightage in it (ARK, QQQ, QCLN VUG, SMT, Baillie Gifford etc.) will need to sell and rebalance. This plus profit taking will drive the price down more than buying IMO.

The net change in price won't be that much when everything settles down. It's good news for TSLA all around, but nothing fundamentally changes and the smart money should already know this.
