When all the hype is gone, it will definitely going down. Just look at what happened in 2020. With the stock split and Tesla delivering half a million of vehicle, the stock shoot up till 900, then throughout 2021, it starts to fall until one stage it become 500+. Now is hyped up again. But now is dunno when it will drop again. By end of the year, Tesla should announce that they have delivered 1M vehicles and that should boost the stock price.

Personally, I have 2 strategies, one for short term, one for long term. Long term is keep holding the shares I bought at high prices (850+) last year. That one probably going to keep until 2030 when the whole has mass adopted EV. Hopefully Tesla is still the leader then.

Short term wise, I am buy Tesla LEAPS options to capitalise on the momentum, because LEAPS work best for bullish trend and magnify the gains in share price. Once the trend is over, I will sell the LEAPS and lock in the profits and wait for another chance (dip) to buy LEAPS at a lower Tesla share price. Can't really consider PUTS cos dun have that kind of budget.
how far back expiry do you usually buy for your TSLA LEAPS ? esp for deep OTM LEAPS where may need more time to give stocks opty to grow ( if you are bullish )

I bought with expiration date on 20 Jan 23.

Actually for most of this year, I wouldn't buy LEAPS on Tesla stock as it is going sideways for so long and even going down with so many negative news. I only buy recently as I feel the trend has reversed and will continue to do so till year end when they announce the 1M sales target.

For most of this year, I bought LEAPS on Google, Microsoft, FB, AMD and Nvidia and made really good profits. If anyone is keen, I will start a new thread to share what I learn about options trading and the 2 most effective strategies that I have deployed thus far.

i see. do you usually close your LEAPS early given that it still has time value ( Since expiring 2023 ) or lock in profits ?

I very kiasi one...the moment market shows signs of weakness or downtrend, I will sell it. With the capital and profit, I can always buy a much further LEAP (2024) which gives me more time to wait and see.

haha, any other interesting counters? im looking at unity and epic games.. but they haven ipo yet but tencent owns 40%
Nope. I dun like to bet on the small companies on a concept tat is so uncertain. FB has lots of cash to make it happen. And they have to make it work cos millenials are moving away to tik tok and other apps liao. If metaverse come true, they also have less to worry about Apple's privacy controls.

Did he regret of his action ? Hard to buy back more with recent bull run.
Like your option play.

Still learning options play.. I was greedy a while back , didn't exit even with 100% gain and within a week all flipped to -100% till option expired.

Yup, he said he could have earned another 70+ k. Having said that, I think he already earned more than 600%. He justified his decision by saying he invested in the next 20x company :)

Options will come with its risk, but then again, so does investing. I bought many popular oil & gas companies back then and ended up losing a lot of money. If SG stocks can do options, I probably will not lose so much by holding onto these legacy stocks for years.

Back to options, LEAPS can either work for you magnificently or totally destroy you when the trend reverse. A safer strategy but with a lower returns would be the wheel strategy. And my principle is always buy options on the stocks I dun mind holding, this helps to lower my risk too, because the worst thing that can happen is for me to hold onto these stocks. I allocate most of options funds to the big Tech and semiconductor companies and so far this strategy works well.
