Thanks for the heads up! Yes, i literally didnt know that training allowance does not include cpf. Now that i know, i really need to reconsider hard. Its like downgrading pretty much for my situation. Furthermore cpf is needed to pay house loan as well.

You currently have a permanent job ? If you want to get into DA, you have to take a course yourself at your own time and expense. When you apply for a DA position, you have to produce some portfolio / work experience.
Also take that into consideration.

So this program worth if :
1. You really want to change your career track to DA

If I take up a paid course with some projects and get certified, is there a good chance to change career path to DA?
I will have to go to an entry level job with a lower salary to gain experience right ?

Yah you need to think hard if you currently still working and your monthly salary higher than $ 4K with cpf bonus etc, whether your actual total monthly is higher than $5,500K. ( count all you total annual income include cpf, bonus, aws and divided by 12)

Again, you always need to sacrifice to gain something. So whether you feel you really can gain from this program or not in future, it also something you need to consider.. maybe now you lose some of income..but maybe in future your income can be much more higher as DA.

CPF can always self to up.

ya la. That could be true. But let's say, if you are in banking already or have related experience, eg you are a vendor for some financial products and you want to get out of sales, then it's dif. Cause you may have the industry knowledge the FI wants. So you complement your knowledge with the DA skills.

There are many different situations. But if somebody has nothing to do with finance and DA and want to get in, this program sound more like what the person should go for, taking into account of salary, etc.

True !! but its soo hard to get in.
I could not get in this year, so will have to wait for next year. Till then I will have to look for some other DA jobs.

Wish there were 2 courses/batches for TFIP each year, to give more opportunities, considering the overwhelming number of applications for DA.

Ya, may be can clarify what certs Digipen and NUSISS giving will help one to make a decision. I think Digipen training is 6 months ? Not sure how many is from NUS.. I remember some training is only 2 or 3 months.. I doubt the training is sufficient (my opinion).

If there isn’t prior experience in DA. What are the chances that one may consider you?

Have you had interview yet?!

So far, I have received the CA from UBS and an interview from UOB.

I did not consider the "cheap labor" portion mentioned earlier, I think that is something helpful to ask during any interview that you have with a FI. I would definitely include it in my interview and also think even harder before accepting should I get any offers.

Good luck everyone, don't give up hope.

Congrats !!! Don't let this "cheap labour" discussion hinder you. Somebody just brought up the possibly and led to a discussion, that's all. Thinkig along those lines could help a person ask "intelligent" questions to the FI and they may even appreciate it, cause you're serious about doing the training and eager to get trained. So you may be a good candidate they are after.

Good luck !!!

Hmm the person called from his HP last evening and this morning. I didn’t answer because I don’t usually answer unknown numbers, so he ended up emailing me.
