Sure. I have basic knowledge of python. But no knowledge of html, css or especially Java. i went thru html and css. But java is another thing. I have difficulty comprehending. I hope they will also get back to me on another track that i applied for. That is AI.
My AI track turns to under evaluation already...

Hi, has anybody attempted the SWE assessment? I completed the 'bridging course', now I'm afraid to make the attempt on the assessment. haha

Maybe can share how is it like and the difficulty level?

Yea. I received the TFIP notification on 26th Aug, and the official invitation to assessment yesterday on 30th. Yea. There is a Codeacademy bridging course on HTML, CSS and Java. Looks like quite tough, but gonna try. Haha.

How long did it take you to complete the bridging course? Would you be able to comment if there are any programming assessment required, or there are just MCQ quizzes to test on theoretical knowledge on the three topics?

Not yet, have not had time to do it yet but will do so by the end of the week. I'll update here once I am done!

I'm also in the middle of the Java bit, I guess the concepts are similar to other OOP languages, but the syntax takes some getting used to haha.

I did it quite quickly because for me I just had to familiarise myself with the java syntax.

For the assessment, I believe there is a coding assessment as well. If you were to try the Practice Assessment from the official invitation to assessment, you will see the sections that will be tested, which includes (MCQ, Coding etc etc).

What language did you come from? Was it somewhat similar to Java?

And yeah the practice assessment was kind of useful, although I couldn't get the embedded code editor to quite work.. Did you manage with that?

I came from C and learning python now as well. Just only the way to write the codes is quite different. Other than that are the same. Java is quite lengthy tbh

Yes, on the laptop the code editor works fine for me.

Cool! I think I'll practice with it a little more before attempting the assessment, and also gotta try the Practice Assessment again to make sure the code editor works for me...

Yes, can. but honestly, the practice assessment does not test on the actual assessment. it is just to familiarise you with the Talview platform.

So I've taken the assessment, and I gotta say... Don't worry too much about it. Hahaha.

All MCQ questions.

Do have some kind of pen/paper ready, cause you probably will need it.

I personally took around 90 minutes, and spent the rest of the time checking my answers.

YMMV, but some were somewhat tricky and required proper thinking.

Having said that, I will say that the theme of the assessment was more "aptitude" rather than specific programming knowledge.

So the web cam and mic will not be of much use?
