This is a not a brag post. Only a sincere vote of thanks... I started following the MoneyMind forum few years ago. Was a 40-yr old who was directionless on career and finance fronts. Two months into the forum, understood the magic of etfs, markets, compounding and CPF maxing :) . Opened IB account and started the IWDA/VWRA+ES3+CPF maxing. Even those market timers taught me something too. Listened to them and used the COVID dips+IB leverage to pump more into the same ETF mix :p

With the recent swell in markets the kitty has hit 1million. Nothing to brag for a 46-year old but just felt a thank you was in order.

Thanks !

Absolutely. Leverage is double edged sword. That COVID dip was irresistible even for risk averse like me. When I see major dips (5%++), I leverage 6-months of my savings rate and avail leverage from IB. And next 6-months paying into the leverage. That's the farthest I go.

Congratulations! My journey is also quite similar. Although I knew stock markets and has burnt my fingers before, it was not until I stumbled upon Shiny things thread sometime in 2017 and I started global index investing. Even after that, I pulled out my money many times thinking markets are overvalued but finally after COVID I decided I have to just stick to an allocation. And this year I managed to retire early with a networth of 1.8M SGD and now I am doing SWR to fund my expenses.

Amazing journey revhappy.. I was still chasing the HDB/Condo mortgages in 2017 and MoneyMind forum had not yet happened for me. But definitely wish I got here earlier :):)

Gxgx! Same as most of us. Stumbled onto Shiny Things thread back then and diligently putting money into S&P 500 for cash/srs and trf OA to SA for CPF. Based on my trajectory, I should be able to hit FRS for my SA by end of year. 43 year old this year.

Should be able to hit half mil at 65 years at minimum at this rate.
