i tried using the pc companion to backup everything or the xperia backup and restore app - the applications cannot be backed up? there's always an error!

Yep definitely. I don't remove it also. So I'm a little puzzled why will leak

Happened to me when im using Z2 after servicing.
Best way to solve this issue, I put in a dry box (those used for cameras), with the flaps opened.
Took me like 2~3x of 8hrs.

If no Dry box, next best is to put in a ziplock bag filled with silica gel or rice. Same, open the only flap on Z5. take quite a while for this method though.

Apps are not backup. cos Google will know what u have downloaded.
Even contacts stored in hp (device only) are not backup.
I lost quite a few contacts when doing the repair, even after i backup the phone.
Apps will auto download when u repaired/reboot ur hp and login using the same google acct.

But i must say, after the reset, power of Z5 is truly unleashed!
Batt life is so much better! Now Z5 can last me the entire day. :)

sounds awesome. looks like i should export my contacts and store it somewhere and also move most apps to sd card if possible.

thanks for the tips, looking forward to having a proper phone with proper battery life -_-
