Strictly photo quality OR usage and speed of photo taking?

They test everything including video, focusing speeds, etc,etc

You should head down to DXOMark website to check it out.

The Z5 will maintain its no.1 ranking for a long time. The iPhone 6S won't beat it because tests have shown that the iPhone 6S is only slightly better than iPhone 6 whereas the Galaxy S6 is much better than the iPhone 6. That means the iPhone 6 won't beat the Galaxy S6 which in turn can't beat the Z5. The iPhone 6S is only good enough for 3rd place at best if it can beat the Nexus 6P

Therefore the Z5 will maintain its top spot at least until the Galaxy S7 or the iPhone 7 is out. That is if they beat the Z5

The phone has achieved 88 out of 100 in the photo category and 86 for video, giving it an overall score of 87. This puts it above the Nexus 6P's total of 84. DxOMark says the phone EXCELS with impressive auto focus in all conditions, calling this feature in particular the best it has tested in a phone to date. it also praises the white balance and color rendering, along with the detail preservation in both good and low light. The image stabilization is also apparently far ahead of the competition

Not so fast... LG V10 is yet to be rated by DxOMark.

The G4 missed out on the top spot due to weaknesses in video recording and LG came back with the V10 with crazy video recording capabilities.

Looking forward for the shootdown of Z5 vs V10

But the V10 has the same camera as the G4 so LG needs to some serious magic on the software.

Actually the G4 lost out to S6 on both photo and video and not just video. But there are some testers who feel that the G4 is better than the S6. In photography, conditions vary so greatly that its impossible for any top-end phone camera be able to be the best in every type of condition.

So I'm like a broken record about the "mottling" but I just saw a glimpse of hope when I saw people backing a comment saying;



I've never switch this off in previous Z phones. Nobody in this forum recommended doing that and the Sony ambassador at the launch event have no idea why the over-sharpening effect is highly apparent.

Those who tested it, can you find that off option?

Will test the camera quality again.

On Z3, you can somewhat solve it by consciously going to higher megapixel to shoot but the problem is it kept switching back to 8MP default.

Most times you forgot to switch and usually to shoot a fleeting moment which is taken anyhow, thus the reason to likely need recropping or recomposing of pics.

I tested the Z5 at 313. Not sure if it is not using the last firmware or what, the photos is having too much sharpening. Is even more obvious when taking a zoomed in photo. The objects in the photos look bad.

I hope what DXO tested is the latest camera app unlike the one at 313. If this is the final software, think I will skip Z5.

Off. Taken in superior auto. If one is not zooming in I think it will be fine. Perhaps some will prefer the sharpening effects though.

What's more ridiculous is that it's releasing in mid-November in Japan. I don't understand why they do it last in their home market.

The Sony Xperia Z5 has the hardware needed to be at the top of the market, an impressive camera, the new Hibrid Autofocus, removable micro SD card and a decent capacity on the battery. I only wished Sony would have put a little more effort in the design. It doesn’t have anything to set it apart and looks kind of dull. But maybe future smartphones will come with some improvements in that aria. In my opinion the phone’s capabilities and features make up for the design.

For those that is very much into mobile photography, considering that my DSLR only leave the storeroom 4-5 times per year during special occasion, oversharpening is a big issue

Also considering that other phone manufacturers, using Sony mobile camera component, managed to appease the majority by placing a balance on the final output.

The critical comment is not because we Hate Sony, but we want Sony to Achieve bigger market share because they got it right elsewhere with the water resistant feature, awesome proprietary camera app and beautiful hardware design.

Year in year out, Sony actually somehow managed to get good reviews ( ) but not translated to market share.

They should look at LG and how they are starting to LISTEN to the users... comparison with LG is due to both having great products but somehow not able to gain market share.

Difference with LG is that users are excited about their future because LG are pumping out products based on what the users been screaming about.

Quite true lo, it's just like WP rally turnout big, yet getting little votes
