still looks like garbage with red/purple tint and overblown lights... oh well. I guess if you change to Night mode you can get a usable shot with a tripod or steady hands.

With the z5, the SA mode has been improved though. Can see the difference when comparing z3+ and z3 with it. When it's spot on, the photos looks great. But the problem is it isn't spot on all the times. A normal consumer shouldnt have to fiddle with settings, pro mode to get good image quality in different conditions. Sony makes the sensors themselves. They should know better how to optimise it.

In the Android authority the reviewer mentioned that sometimes in SA mode, 23mp looks nicer, but most of the time 8mp looks nicer, and it's the same for me too. I took everyshot in both 23mp and 8mp. In a some shots, the 23mp shots looks better. Which tells me that SA mode still needs a bit more improvements.

There is supposed to be a major camera app update right? Maybe that'll help. Haha.

that's good to know. I'm afraid inconsistency and horrible post-processing are the downfall of Xperia cameras.

also the camera update seems to be more of a refined UI. maybe it will bring about better photos, I hope, lol.

in terms of specs

z3's battery - 3100mAh
z5's batter - 2900mAh

their battery test is quite close to real life usage

but do take note that z3's battery usage is with default android kitkat. if your z3 upgraded to android L, many users mentioned the battery life is slightly shorten.
having switched from z3 to z5 and used both... this is pretty accurate comparison between the 2.

Thanks for sharing. I got the last one from Sony Funan. Quality is good. The 50% discount still best. =) Now need to get a 9H tempered glass screen protector, i can use it without worrying scratching the screen or the back. Woots!

I do not think any update helps, apart from a bigger lens that is present in dedicated camera.

We are seeing the limits of small camera lens, since there is only so much the makers can do for it.

True photographers plays with phone camera and shoots with dedicated ones. :D

If the UI is the same as Z2, I don't think there is a toggle

Yes. Unfortunately it is the major turn off for lollipop and Sony happens to follow closely to the nexus ui.

Some other brands still have this sound toggle due to their own ui design.

To royal xperia users, the main selling point of xperia has never been the camera. It is and always has been the minimalist UI and battery life.

Ummm. Of course not the camera. If I want a real camera I woulda gotten an SLR.

And no, we don't support SONY cos of 'minimalist UI and battery'.

It's the ability to change phone language to Japanese and built-in Japanese keyboard with japanese emoticons.

As for UI, I miss the good ol' Timescape =(

Eh, I think you're only speaking for yourself. I don't use the Japanese keyboard at all.

And Timescape was only "fun" for a while. Didn't really use it much.
