NTU fast charging batteryScientists at Nanyang Technology University have created a battery thatfast charges to 70 per cent in 2 minutes and has a life 10 times longer than current lithium-ion batteries.The NTU battery should last for 10,000 charges according to its creators.The technology is currently being licenced by an unnamed company for production. While we'd love to see this in our phones soon the lead professor refers to electric cars when talking about the battery. "Electric cars will be able to increase their range dramatically, with just five minutes of charging, which is on par with the time needed to pump petrol for current cars,” said Professsor Chen. The longer battery life makes sense for those buying an electric car.The 10,000-cycle battery should cut down battery replacement in cars and equate to a 15-minute charge for the entire car.

I'm wondering how big of improvement over the battery capacity these couple of years. based on average users ,do you people mean the SOT last time only like 2hrs?
because I always see fellow users nowadays posting SOT results like 4-6hrs.

I think my xperia Z in march 2013 managed to clock at least 4hrs SOT.
my usage pattern is the same these years, only surfing the browser (including Facebook,not the standalone app) with music.

now using Z3 (2014 model), can clock SOT of 3x longer.
granted, I don't game or watch/stream video.

how about fellow android users?

agree wit u. my previous z3 hav longer battery life too.

but of cos this z5 is only the 1st firmware, sure to hav bad battery life. subsequent firmware updates will sure fix n enhance it.

previously when i 1st get z3, the battery also doesnt last tat long.

haha call me weird but recently,I firmly believe the very first firmware that came preinstalled with the phone has the best battery life.
for instance, Z3 on lollipop VS on kitkat.

actually on z3, lollipop battery life seems to be better on kitkat.

most of the time, wit every new firmware installed, i will wipe it clean. therefore no issue n better battery life.

Ok, I'll call you weird then. The very first firmware that comes with the phone when it's first launched, usually does contain quite a number of bugs which are fixed in subsequent firmwares. I've also seen feedback from users that the updated firmware brings about longer battery life (I've personally experienced this too on my Xperia phones).

If your concern is basically the battery life on Lollipop firmwares, perhaps it might be more prudent to flash the last KitKat firmware that was released, instead of the very first KitKat firmware.

Just my thoughts.

right. do you guys just use the phone straightaway or start to disable the components under settings > apps? by doing such sure have impact on the battery getting better. google components are the main drain.

tried all solutions out there on the net already. gave up and used my computer to rebroadcast the signal

my Android OS is draining the battery the entire night. not sure what's going on and i've disabled most of the Sony built in apps.

Went to sleep at 80%+ woke up at shocking 20%!!!

Could it be because of my poor mobile reception at home? I have like only 1-2 bars.

Posted some stats here.. not sure why my mobile radio was active the whole night. any gurus can help?

Why not add your own router? Just plug it into a LAN port. I did this at home before I dumped Starhub entirely.

I support this. Tested and proven with two Z3, one running latest lollipop and other running last kitkat version.

The Z3 with kitkat last longer than lollipop and generate less heat during heavy gaming sessions.

Asus has this new feature to stamp the date taken on the photo. Nice useful optional feature.

As I am thinking of making a switch, does xperia have this feature on Z5?
