500k is nothing to scream and shout about. If one works in an investment bank, the budget for each trader is usd 5m to 10m depending on seniority. Base pay is typically quite fixed and one gets paid via bonuses. And if one handles the franchise flows where making pnl is quite a given, then one does not expect to get paid as without the franchise flows he would not be in a position to make. Quite obvious the clown is not from an investment bank and is showing his naivety.
And it also begets a key question. MAS has very strict rules on traders trading their own personal account and every trade needs to be cleared with compliance department. There were traders who were banned for front running or trading with inside information.

I don't think gold and stock market prices are really correlated leh...in theory, stocks will be the main vehicle of investment and investors will flock to gold as safe haven when equities are weak. Personally, I'll look at the underlying reason why gold and stocks rise/fall. It seems to me both can rise simultaneously currently.

If buy bonds then cannot buy gold le mah. Anyway, the value of bonds on negative yield just reached 15trillion.

I would have thought the creation of contracts on comex to short paper gold will keep price down but the price of gold seems to keep increasing. At least in the near term there is resistance at 1509 and 1525. Unless it's central banks (Russia, china) buying gold, I dunno how it's increasing so rapidly.

Dxy is near all time high and same for gold. One has to give way.
