This market is getting hard to read or to trade swing in any direction. We have seen large sell offs accompanied with high volume but little follow through. Market rallies slowly but still has not much commitment to break through higher convincingly. I think this could continue for a while yet and my inclination is still to day trade this market until we see break out on either side. Personally I still do not see any major breakthrough in trade issues as both US and China are too far apart and at the same time, I think the fed has also lost the plot. Liquidity is still floating out there but rallies have been on relatively low volume while high volume sell off cannot just quite break down lower. So Market is just telling me that this needs more time for the bulls and bears to slug it out.

I bought partial on the sell off in the 1st week of Aug. Sell off that partial on the recent high.

Rinse and repeat.

I am looking forward to add on the next correction.

The dollar index is going higher together with gold and silver after yesterday
Dollar index dropped a whopping 0.92% leh. I've never seen such a big drop in 1 day in a long time.

What goes up, must come down. We need him to make things cheap.

When the market got hammered, it's worth to look for those stocks that withstood the hammering. Of course, gold stocks and utilities shine. But what about others? Be patient and don't rush where the angles fear to thread. Watch these stocks' response when the market rebound and take appropriate action.

I bought 2 stocks which have low/no debt. And still gives out dividends. I guess now is the time to look for value buys.

I do not trust this market at this point in time and think it would be whippy within a range. so far, there has been little follow through when we see hugh sell offs on the back of high volume... typically, one would expect that there may be some continuation and the sell off may warrant a break to the downside. And likewise, when there is upside buying, I see a lack of volume and therefore indicating that the market has no conviction to break to the topside. I guess this type of price action is a symptom of excess global liquidity supporting the downside while headline news and lack of participation by the big boys resulting in failed push above the topside.

Maybe for individual stocks there would be some follow through action but on the index, I hardly see any inclination to break either topside or downside.

My latest day trading methodology is a play on aligning the fractal energies across different time frames and applying it on a momentum move intraday. All trades would be typically closed within the first 2 hours of trading and any failure to move according to expectations within the first hour constitute a failure to participate based on the fractal energies. This has so far yielded very good results - trades are either not triggered and therefore identified candidates lapses or when they get triggered, they hit profit objectives within the first 2 hours of trading. When the trades are triggered within the first hour and moves rather slowly, they get cut and often at break even points or better. Of course, I use a lot of volume price analysis and sector and main index reading to supplement my analysis before deciding to trigger trades and that has resulted in a rather high win rate.

And the candidates to trade for the day takes even less time to identify and analyse now - about 30mins each day as a script that I wrote, would shortlist all tradeable candidates within 5 mins... rest of the 25 mins would be spent on analysis and plotting my trade plans within a spreadsheet for easy execution.
