Anybody bought the Filson 256 in Navy color? Am contemplating between the classic tan and Navy. Any comments?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply.
If I were to use it as my office bag, which colour is more versatile?

Office I would say navy or the new colour black. Darker colours are usually more "classy" and complement really well with any formal dressing imho.

Tan have a more casual look and the eventual "dirts" will add a lot character to the bag which makes it rugged and too casual for office use. Unless your work are very outdoor base and your working dress code is very casual like jeans etc, I would avoid tan.

The Filson 256 has an outdoor vibe because of the texture of the material used. Thus, I feel that you should not use this as an office bag.

In whatever outfit your decide to wear, it should have a theme that is obvious for the onlooker. For example, for your business attire, the fabric and texture of your suit and shirt and designs of your shoes should tell the people around you at a glance that you are in your business attire. The same goes for your casual formal and preppy (street) style outfit that you pull off. So, if you want to get the Filson 256, get the one in tan since the tan color resonates with its outdoor design.

When it comes to matching your outfit, focus on a single theme; all accessories, top, bottoms and shoes should congregate to that theme.

Hope this helps.
Cheers

I don't feel necessary to actually carry a "formal" briefcase to office for work. I think it only necessary if you are those kind who are forced to wear smart formal with blazers to work then yes, a formal briefcase would complement much better.

But for vast majority working in the office we are not inclined to suit up but requested to wear formal to look smart and presentable at all times. With a formal wear, I don't see why a dark coloured canvas briefcase being not appropriate.

Tan would be a bit loud to complement most office wear and it is harder to match compared to a darker coloured bag. And Tan pick up dirts much easier and get staining pretty easy too which makes it too rugged to be a office bag imo.

End of the day, for fashion have no right or wrong. What is wrong is merely the judgement based on society norms.

You should know what style and colours complement to your wardrobe better than any of us here.
