So I went to a shop yesterday. The optometrist there did an eye exam using measuring glass, measuring ruler to gauge Pupillary Distance, and then used a slit lamp. After the examination she told me to go back 2 days later to learn how to wear CL. :D

So are the procedures correct? I noticed that she only asked me whether I have dry eyes, and never use a Tear Film.:s8:

Btw, my degree is 825 for both left and right, but the optometrist ordered 750 for me. Is that ok too? Using CL for water activities.:s13:

Did they look at the contact lens on the eye with the slit lamp? Checking how it moves on your eye. Otherwise, its not right.

If you're wearing CL for water sports. Get dailies. Throw it away once out of the water. Water and contact lenses don't mix

Hello everyone, I am looking for monthly contact lenses. May I know where is the best place to get at good price and provide all the necessary assessments? Prefer to get it from shop than online. Any recommended brands that are value for money? Thank you!

my astig is pretty high at around 300

or should i just get normal dailies with higher power? around 800 on the left and 700 on the right

becozlah, will you be able to PM me where you got your contact lens fitting? I am interested to get a proper prescription done.. Thank you.

can share which shop did you go to? thanks.

I went to Infinity Eyewear near boon keng mrt.:s13:

Purpose: To be able to see while scuba diving

Experience: first time wear

Summary
1) Find an optometrist
2) Do eye exam (measuring glass, measuring ruler, slit lamp)
3) learn how to wear CL at the shop
4) wear the lens, wait ~5 mins, then use a lamp and tell me look up down left right and adjust my lens (to get a good fit)
5) practice and get used to wearing contacts

Damage: $40 for 15 pairs of dailies (don't worry about the brands if you're new, pocket pain better than eyes pain)

Going to SP probably cheaper :s8:

I went to three optometrist shops in the neighbourhood mall . I wanted to get contact lenses fitting as I have not been wearing lenses for more than a year .

2 optometrist shops just took my specs and measure the degree then quoted me a price for the lenses . They didn't even bother to check my eye degree . When I asked if they do trail lenses, the 2 shops gave crude reply that they will loose business if doing trial lenses.

If the customers are willing to pay for trail lenses . They do not have to be so rude about it !

The third optometrist shop was the most professional. They did a full eye test and gave a pair of trial lenses to try .

It's disgusting to see how some shops operate! Some do not even hire qualified optometrist:(

I did my contact lens fitting at NPOC. Most professional, IMO. Drawback is that need to go multiple times:

First visit - to check and to get eye health/dimensions.
Second visit - to try out trail pair which were ordered based on the first visit. A few pairs will be given.
Third visit - to make a final check after wearing the trial pairs (must be worn at least for a few hours) which were provided during the second visit.

of course will lose money. each pair earn <5 dollars only for monthlies and less than 1$ for dailies. and we never charge for fitting the lenses. thats a very chronic problem. if they dont hire optometrists. simple. threaten to report them LOL.

anyway you probably asked for the wrong thing. trial lenses are provided free by the suppliers for us to do a trial fitting. some small shops sell trail lenses as single pairs. which is not supposed to be done. may be when you asked for trial lenses they thought you want to buy just 1 pair.
