if not yet bought your very first drone, try get some cheap indoor drones first...
- buy a DJI Tello, about S$120, if you like aerial photography, or
- buy a JJRC H36, about S$20+, if you like aerobatic or bashing drone around

both these tiny drones allow you to fly indoor inside your own home.

after your had mastered your drone flying skill, and would want to move further, then you go buy a DJI Spark/Mavic or Bebop/Anafi and fly far far away at east coast park or marina barrage...

:s8: :s12:

nice idea. i had already bought mavic but am thinking of getting tello for my kids. is tello easy for kids to play with? at the same time, i could use tello to practise the flying skills first.

Do small drones for home and large ones for outdoors work using same way to control?

Hi,

1) Manual control
Small drones' control is the same as bigger drones' control, if you are comparing apple to apple.

Example 1, Racing Drone, JJRC H36 vs Racing drones
This JJRC H36 drone cannot hold its altitude and position by itself. It needs constant flyer's control of altitude and maintaining the horizontal position. The bigger 180mm and 210mm racing drones also behaving the same way.

Example 2, Photography Drone, Tello vs Mavic
This Tello drone has barometer and optical positioning, hence it is able to hold its own position in the air if you leave the remote control untouched (meaning drone could hover at same spot in the air without drifting). Manual control of Tello is exactly the same as bigger Mavic.

=> if you know how to fly tello, you will know how to fly mavic. just make sure mavic is flown at a wide open space for safety reason.

2) Tello good for Kids?
Tello is small, light (90g), very stable hovering in the air, and is more kids-friendly. Get the kid to wear swimming goggles while playing tello and that should be safe.

Of all the DJI drones, only tello could be flown indoor, and is fun.

3) Auto-pilot of bigger drones
The bigger drones have extra features like auto-pilots not found in smaller drones.

Just bought a Yuneec Typhoon Q500. Looking for a good practice spot for flying outdoors and with relatively good scenery too. I'll probably practice flying around woodlands waterfront for awhile since I stay nearby. Another spot i can think of is probably Marina Barrage but I'm looking for ideas.

Sorry guys. But anyone got any recommendations for Tello repair?

Dropped my Tello at around 2m at home, and one of the motor got dislodged slightly. Push it back and it is not working anymore.

Suspect is either the wire inside disconnected or motor dead?

Looking to repair it but most shops don’t do tello

Hi guys.. I've been reading this thread for a couple of days and would like to seek some advice from the seniors here on getting my first drone. Have played with it here and there a couple of times before and am looking to get one to play around with the aim to move onto playing the FPV mode (if poisoned may start to invest abit more in proper gear, i.e controller, goggles, DIY Kits that route). I've done abit of research and narrowed down to the following few options:

1) DJI Tello - $120
2) SYMA X21W WIFI FPV With 720P Camera - $54 on BG
3) SYMA X22W WIFI FPV With 720P Camera - $50 on BG (this seems to be best bang for buck)
4) SYMA X23W WIFI FPV With 720P Camera - $57 on BG
5) JJRC H44WH DIAMAN 720P WIFI FPV - $32 on BG
6) Eachine E013 Micro FPV RC Drone Quadcopter With 5.8G 1000TVL 40CH Camera VR006 VR-006 3 Inch Goggles - With Goggles - $87
7) Eachine E58 WIFI FPV With 2MP Wide Angle Camera with 3 batteries - $77

Any advice on which to get? Have also considered the JJRC H36 as well, but am thinking if it would it be better to invest onto one with FPV at the start?

i think better get Eachine E013, the others are all wifi not that good for FPV. During 11.11, I was thinking of buying one set Eachine E013 without goggle at S$46 for myself. :s8:

Oops! sorry, balik balik, my mistake.. i thought you already set your mind into racing drones...

which type of "FPV" are you looking for?

Racing, Aerobatic FPV?, then suggesting get eachine 013

Exploration, Video filming FPV?, then suggesting get Tello
