Sony is one of the few sensor manufacturers in the world... and their camera sensors are the best in the market at this point... better than what Samsung is able to produce... of course they will use Sony sensors for their flagships... even the iPhone uses Sony sensors exclusively...

Not all of Samsung phones uses Sony camera modules

I *think* half of Samsung phones uses Sony camera modules and the rest uses Isocell camera modules

You see people posting on the S8/S8+, S7/S7e, etc threads that their camera modules are either Sony or Isocell camera modules

Many reviewers mentioned there are no differences in term of performance between the Sony camera modules and the Isocell camera modules

Samsung only use Sony IMX sensors for their Snapdragon flagships, while they use their own Samsung ISOCELL sensors for their Exynos flagship~

In the case for the Galaxy S8 series, not too sure about previous flagships~

Bullshiat la..

other phones also got big batt, how cum they can still do it ?

the truth ish that samsuck want to be diff from others.. so they gey kiang place it on that location..
Tiagong that Samsung is using a similar internal design as the S8 for the Note8, so they're sticking to a similar placement of the FPS for the Note8 because they aren't going to redesign the internal of the Note8.

Usually the internal design of the Note phone of a year is similar to the S phones of the year, so the design of the Note phone of a year is gonna be largely similar to the S phones of that year.

it's buttery smooth and if you prefer stock android, it's the phone to get. downside is that it's not waterproof but then again, as long as you don't use the phone in the rain or be careful enough not to drop it in water, it's fine. design wise, it's pretty outdated (big chins at the top and bottom). some people hate the design with the partial glass at the back but I just slapped a dbrand/slickwraps skin and it's all good

camera wise I guess is better than most phones out there. won't go wrong with it.

but the price point itself is enough to turn off a lot of people out there.

LOL........ looks like fruity will be using FACIAL RECOGNITION....no fingerprint sensor at all..... no rear FPS, no on-screen FPS.....

IPhone 8 to have the highest screen-to-body ratio and no fingerprint sensor?
http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-iphone-8-have-highest-screen-body-ratio-and-no-fingerprint-sensor

From article
"............iPhone 8 will not come with Touch ID fingerprint sensor of any kind. There will be no on-screen fingerprint scanner or a rear fingerprint sensor. What this means is that Apple might have opted for facial recognition on the iPhone 8. He claims that the full-screen design does not work with current capacitive fingerprint recognition and the scan-through ability of the under-display fingerprint sensor is still facing technical issues....."

Fruity also have problems with on-screen FPS....

Well, at least Samsung Note8 has rear FPS and re-designed to minimize chance of touching the camera lens

That would be quite a surprise, if no FPS at all. But the full screen quite power, more full screen than infinity display

Apple could have integrate the FPS to the Apple logo itself :s13:

Wow.....HUGE gap between FPS and dual lens to avoid dirtying the lens

:s13::D

and is it me or is the FPS and dual camera slightly raised?

That means it is now easier to locate the FPS???

Looks like Samsung did put in more effort for the FPS now....eliminating the flaws of the S8/S8+ FPS

Heart rate monitor for Samsung has always been beside the camera lens but not a lot of people use the heart rate monitor and therefore, not a lot of complains about the accidental touching of the camera lens

The camera is not aligned in the center, is there any cons for it?

Maybe phone without case and placed flat on table, the phone will be uneven, seems like camera is a bit protruding.

That extra 200-250 ish for the extra internal storage, RAM and dual-cam thing compared to its latest S family flagships.. do chiu think it worth the price ?

as in a whole, $1.5K for a fone wif N8 features do chiu think worth it ? :s8:

Price too steep for me

It is protruding out.... the other end of the phone without camera module is about 7mm thick but the end with the camera module is about 9mm thick

All Note series have protruding camera modules (some are more protruding than others). Note 5 and Note7 have minor protruding camera modules but Note 1, 2, 3 and 4 have very protruding camera modules.

Center protruding camera is ok for me as almost all previous Samsung phones camera is in the middle. If I place it on table, the contact point with the table is the center camera lens and the bottom of the back and it is still even. For example Iphone 6 will rest unevenly on table as the protruding lens is at the side.

Note 8 camera is not in center, is there any cons during taking photos and videos? I am guessing the usage experience will still be the same as we are looking in the front display to know what area we are capturing.

Erm.... camera location does not matter whether it is center, or at the sides.

As long as when taking pictures or videos, you position your hand so that the camera is pointing at the center of the object-of-interest will do the trick.
