I second that. I did not experience any issue after upgrading to Oreo. Was hesitating to upgrade to huawei P20 Pro but now i love my Note 8 even more. šŸ˜€

How come u all update so many issues 1.
Mine seems smoother and works better than ever before
Battery life also feels much solid

I upgraded my Note 8 to Oreo OTA and have absolutely no issues. I use my own D-Link router at home... I have no issues with my workplace wifi nor with other public free networks... never tried Wireless@SG though...

I can download and update from this site is it?

I also havent get mine yet. Its soo annoying:(

safest way is to wait for official one from sg, if u depends on alot of bloatware from singapore version of firmware, what i did is switch region to uae region which has 8.0 long ago...

do back up important things to your computer first though... like this you wont lose important data in case u wana try other method

if u dont care about having the "sg" version, try other region, uae one is very very thin and alot of software need to go into samsung store to download them..

1. remove all sim card and micro sd card, also disconnect any wireless internet connection.
2. power off the phone and power on again, there should be no data connection at all now.
3. power off the phone again.
4. now perform a hard reset (press and hold bixby button, volume up button and lastly power on button, release all buttons when you see the android bot / blue screen).
5. scroll down the menu and select factory wipe / reset, followed by reboot.
6. now on setup screen, just skip whatever that is possible (sim card should remain removed and do not connect to the internet).
7. after setup is completed, power off the phone.
8. power on the phone now and do the *#272*IMEI number# (sim card should remain removed and do not connect to the internet).
9. scroll down and select XSP, then install.

let me know if this works for you.

i think its this one

i found on page 374, u can try other singapore edition to see if u get the update too or not, i tried sg one but didnt show up update, so i dont wana wait and switch already

temp solve wireless issue.

1. go to settings-connections-Wi-fi and click on your current network.
2. scroll to manage router and click on ip address at the bottom and you will come to your connection screen.
3. on the left of the panel click on general-wireless
4. under security 2.4 ghz n 5 ghz choose 'WPA and WPA 2' and hit apply button.

that should solve the problem.

Just an update: called samsung today for my phone screen keeps automatically waking up on its own with the error ā€œiris scanner could not recogniseā€ or something like that and had ask for an update about the wifi disconnecting issue one shot. It seems that samsung is still working on it an update and would want to rectify all mistakes done with all recent oreo devices. She couldnt give me a date by when the update is coming out but she did confirm two things that I’d like to share with you guys for there are some doubts with people commenting here.

Device affected are: S9, S9 Plus(which will receive the updates for they are priority devices). Note 8 for it is a high level device in the note series and still costs more even than the S9 series. There isnt a guarantee for the S8 and S8 plus to be fixed for they will push out the S9’s update to the S8 in hopes it’ll rectify the mistake they did and yes once again the lady on the line CONFIRMED IT IS A BETA VERSION BUT OREO 8.0 ACCORDING TO HER IS A BETA STAGE ANDROID OPERATING SYSTEM. There were bugs in 8.0 in not only the samsung phones but other phones also that were only fixed in 8.1 and believe it or not if you google it other models phone with 8.0 is also facing wifi issues like several google phones. She said it isnt as though it was samsung’s fault to push out a beta version when google had already tell them it was stable. She was a senior advisor and she said the least i can do is be honest with you rather than giving you false hope.

So for those in doubt, it is a beta version with bugs and its up to individual phone manufacturers to push out the update so we should thank samsung for actually working on it to push it out. But yes it is an unstable version of android and they should consider re-dealing with google or whatever on giving 8.1 or maybe they’ll push out the update of android P sometime sooner. Lets see.

She also said if the issues still persist even after the update like some google phones that will require a motherboard replacement i see that making no sense for in nougat my phone worked flawlessly. Google phones faced the bug even till 8.1 also. She said i’d have to consult the service center to see if there is a downgrade option back to nougat for she isnt sure of that option when i asked. Its just sad what an update can do to such a wonderful beast of a device. Haiz. I should have never updated in the first place/url]. Regrets. My entire family upgraded 4 devices together and now we’re all stuck with the same issue :( its really saddening.

There are a few issues with this.

1.) Android 8.0 is NOT a beta software. You may have found a thread or two with the same issue but you can even find this 'issue' all the way back from Android Lollipop where such a function to check Wi-Fi service was implemented. It is pure coincidence it has occurred to another device as well, along with that there are only a few things that can go wrong with every device. Wifi issues, Bluetooth issues, Lag, camera, Batterylife. You name it.. there is a thread for it for sure.

2.) Google does not release broken Android builds. If they really did, do you think you would actually see S9 devices with the same issue? We are also on Android 8. There are a lot of other phones on Android 8.0 too, no issues with them.

3.) So far you are only a subset of people who have this issue and it is quite clear that it only affects a small subset of routers too specifically Singtel Arcadyan routers is one of them. I've two Note 8 here working perfectly on my SH routers and the Wireless@SGX around my area works as well

4.) The FW you received is tested by Samsung and Google for approval before it makes it's way to you. There will be even clearer indicators if it was a beta FW, trust me it is really noticeable. I've gotten ACTUAL beta FW before anyone else received their release builds for Singapore. The build number is way too different for anything along beta builds from Samsung and beta FW usually wipes devices on the update.

5.) You can downgrade the update yourself, it is very unlikely they will do it for you cause technically it is not allowed to be downgraded and you risk soft bricking the device. As long as the bootloader is updated once to a higher version, then it cannot be downgraded. If the bootloader is backward compatible then sure you can still downgrade without the bootloader. And as far as I can see. It is still possible to do it on your own. You will lose all of your data though.

6.) Call centers will not give you 100% answers, they have a tendency to make up any sort of reason to make their life easier on their side. I'll honestly not trust those words they say of a beta software. Their guidelines and recommendations are usually very simple. They will troubleshoot with simple steps like restarts or clear data of some applications. Then a Factory reset and if all else does not work they recommend you to bring it in. So mostly call centers don't really do much, I mostly believe and say it is all words to comfort the users and most of the time just to get them feel like it is to troubleshooting with the common steps and if that fails then to bring it in.

X.) Android P is nowhere near release yet. You will have to wait even longer for that. Don't put your hopes in that.
