I have a set of alphabet stamping tools that my friend helped buy in HK. Never used cos he bought the wrong one for me. I wanted something else. If u are keen, I'll snap a pix and send to u.

Well, that explains the similarity. I already have alphabet stamps. Right now, I am looking for stamps like veiner, border, camouflage and the likes.

Wow! very nicely done. Seems like the thread was placed into good use!
For this design, you are actually meant to place only 1-2 cards per slot (by right..).

Putting more cards into it would mean
- it will bulk up due to the number of cards. which leads to 2 scenarios
-leather will stretch eventually. so u are able to pull in/our cards easier.
-put more cards in.
-it will become a little loose in the future.

Other than that, you should try to use softer leathers. Less in thickness (oz.) and softer in nature (e.g. sheep or goat). Like this, you can put more cards in due to it being more forgiving, since its less stiff.

Its not really due to the stitching (since I don't see 'hills and valley', that's the effect of over-tension). More to do with allowance of space. For this design, its meant for less cards.
So, its more like a nature of the design. That's why card holders you see in commercial products are more towards individual plastic cases for each card design OR a single big compartment to place cards into it.

Hey man, hope you're doing well. Thanks for the input, I guess you're right that this design is just meant to be so. For now I'm stuffing it silly with cards and etc and hoping it will soften up with use. Should also be a good test of the my stitching durability with this abuse. I'd like to find softer leathers, but as we chatted previously, quite tough to find locally.

I experimenting making a card/cash holder yesterday. First time making use of the thread I got from Toby88 since I got it from him some time back. Turned out OK for a first try.

However after finishing up, I faced a problem. It's too tight to fit in more than a few cards. -_- Not sure if maybe it's because the leather I used is too stiff or maybe I pulled the stitches too tight, but looks like I can only use this as a card holder and not a wallet replacement as I intended.

these type of 'open' cardholder design tend to be long length wise, almost like 4 inch.
the extra length gives it allowance to 'bloat' up to hold more cards. 2-3 cards per slot no problem.
do note once they are overexpanded and molded to with 3++ cards they may be too loose for single cards in the future

difference is apparent when u compare slot length of these vs the ones inside a regular bifold wallet which is meant to hold 1 card.

it will be damn tight at first, just give it time

beo those seasoned Saddleback's ID wallet can see how much they mold to multiple cards

When we talk about ‘Boondocker’ here, what do we mean? Its definition developed into various meaning throughout the years and use loosely by people.

From most research, I have found out that the term ‘Boondocker’ started in the 20th century by American military servicemen serving in Philippines. It comes from a Tagalog word for mountain ‘Bundog’. They started using it to mean a rural, remote bushy area.

In the modern world, Boondocker now has got different variations. From snowmobile to RV community to military, it has however maintain its meaning of exploring the remote area, the adventurous type.

Inspired by the Boondocker boots issued to the US Marines throughout WWII, ......

Hmm yes, I made mine 10.5cm which is about 4 inches.

I used it over the weekend when I was in Bangkok, stuffed it silly with Thai Baht and the occasional card or two. Hasn't loosened up much, but at least it appears the stitching is holding up fine.

Sorry, can't really tell what the design is like from your photos. Would be better if you have some stock photos from the manufacturer or something. How much are you planning to sell anyway?

Hi guys, just wondering do you apply leather protection in the "inside" of your wallet? Or only the "outer" part?

Do you also apply the protection over the stitch?

You can never go wrong with applying leather protection all over, including the stitches. Protecting your investment goes a long way in prolonging the lifespan of the leather.

Once its done, just remember to let it dry out for a day or two.

Emphasizing on hand stitching only, we pre-cut the leather and punched holes on the leather. All you need to do is come down and stitch them up.

This exercise will provide you with a better feel of one important step in leather crafting – hand stitching.

Duration is around 2 hrs per session,
