But confirm he is using belt clip.

RW beeswax can be found local RW dealer. Here is how it turns out,

Like I said, I got no experience for black RW. And there is no way to 'heal' scratches, so to darken it seems the only way.
Anyway, beeswax protects the leather too, so no harm trying

I presume his 8165 is worst than yours right? He seems to be using the mink oil (in cream form).

Ya, the dark colour is after applied. 877 used oro-ginal leather by Red Wing, this type of leather absorb oil, cream and ....sadly moisture well. So beeswax, which darken leather, applied on it will be quite permanent.
I have yet to see it turn back to lighter colour, but I like darker colour so I dont mind

Your 8165 is using Black Chrome Leather (Chaparral leather from Red Wing), smooth, soft, supple yet sturdy. It is not sealed, so polishing it will give you a shiny and smooth finish, just like wat the link did.

I dunno about which local store carries it bro, been away too long. I think you can keep a look out for it when you are in town.
If I'm right, 310 Woodland dont have....

Hm...dunno leh, I dont know much about the ingredients in Kiwi shoe cream. If you ask me, I dont recommend.
Try not to use silicone or petroleum-based products on leathers that you treasure. I dont know if Kiwi includes such ingredients, but I know RW beeswax and mink oil confirm dont have.

Ah...for the bag, you can use normal oil, either you purchase online or get from local store. I think local shoe shops should have some conditioning oil.
For the wallet, can't say much if no specific.
However, if you said it is smooth surfaces, then as above, like bag. Rule of thumb, as long as it is not suede, velvet or anything rough-out surface, get mink oil. It does wonders to most leathers.

Just a slight coat will do, no need to apply alot, the result is the same, too much only make things messy, that's all

Hi there community, the thread has been informative so far. Question: In the Jap link above, could you give advice how to keep the reddish brown colour vibrant. I want to keep my redwing boots reddish with the fear that mink/boot oil will darken the leather. Thank you.

there are some people who don't even apply anything on their RW boots at all. just daily wearin' and tearin'.

well, imo, the only way of getting RW boots in mint condition? just keep it like a collection and display them on the shelf. cos really, 877 really is awesome to look at.

anyways, its impossible for leather not to age.

My motive is continuing to wear the reddish brown redwings but oil it along the way to avoid the leather from drying. It does not have to remain mint, the condition in the earlier link seems to age very well.

This is my fifth pair of wings but I always got them in black. My boot oil seem to darken the red leather a little bit. The last thing I need is another dark coloured/black redwings : (.

Kazuki, your assumptions are valid for the norm : ). Yeah, I like this forum experience so far....
