Nah I won't consider myself pro (yet, hopefully )
Just started learning not too long ago, only applying the basic techniques. Still got a lot of stuff haven't learn. Even the basics also haven't perfect.

Like the wallet if you notice the stitching on the inside, bottom part the stitching is quite messy. Need to practice sewing through thick stacks of leather more
The coin pouch design could also have been better.

Im glad you thought that way haha. Doing the edges on the outer border alone took me about 1 hour! Even then its still not perfect, if you want to compare with the works of some of the real pros. Need to find a power sander somehow to help me get the edges even more easily >.<

Horsehide exterior

Quite disappointed with my stitching on a couple of parts though. Definitely could have been better.
I kinda like this horsehide. Its not too even in color but I quite like that color texture. It also has a nice smooth feeling that the regular cowhide doesn't have.

Since I don't have a skiving tool (yet), it ended up pretty thick. Slightly more than 2cm when loaded.

May i know do you use awl for the stitching holes? Do you mind share share how you polish the edges? Using jeans hand polish?

Started this on Fri, wanted to finish it. Then left on Sat to Msia and got caught in flood on return on Sun.

Manage to return only this afternoon, kinda lost the momentum when trying to finish it.

I find that I tend to make mistakes if I stop and resume a project only after a day or two?

Not promoting, but I guess some people may already know, OBBI GOOD LABEL will be holding classes for leathercrafting.
This is only initial stage, everything is still planning, how the lessons should be, timing issues and stuff.

So once everything is set, we will let you guys know about it.

Yup I do use an awl for the stitching holes. For the edges I first sand to even them. Then dampen the edges and sand them further with different grits. This will burnish the edges. Then I burnish it further with a smooth object and lastly rub in a little beeswax.

Thanks Lipsu! Ive actually been doing research on leathercrafting way before I ordered the materials and got started for real. Looks like that couple of months of research was worth it as I seemed to have managed to avoid some of the common pitfalls that would have wasted a lot of these expensive leather. The knowledge that I have accumulated is owed to the many experienced leatherworkers who had been so kind to share their expertise and experience online. I am deeply grateful to them for that.

I don't see why it should not be promoted. In fact, it should be promoted more!

I wished there were leather crafting classes when i started. Crafting is one thing, sourcing for materials is another headache.

With a class, not only beginners can learn the craft, they can also pick up tips on choosing materials and hardware from the instructors, thereby making it a wholesome approach to starting off. Having someone to ask, will definitely cut short the learning curve.

Anyway, here's a new belt for myself to start off the new year. No budget for new clothes, but at least belt is new.. hehe... (but the keeper is old, haha)

Build with Black Cowhide Soft leather, I have combine to use the covering flap as a mechanism to operates as a lifter to the phone.

Simply open flaps, pull the flap, the Curve will automatically lift up. (See GIF pics)

this is beautiful!!! how much would something like this cost?
