Just received an online enquiry for one of my wallets. The person actually said he liked the wallets but wanted to know why is it so pricey compared to the branded wallets.

I suppose he is expecting me to sell these wallets for $30-$40 since I make them at home. Like these are new year cookies I am baking at home?

Receiving these kind of comments really takes the colour out of the craft.

it happens.

but just explain to that person and im sure he will understand.

sometimes there are people who just dont understand why a simple looking, unbranded wallet can cost so much.

I did consider giving him a detailed reply. However, I thought that since he can ask such a question, he most likely knows and appreciate nuts about such product.

Even if I did explain enough for him to buy it, later on, I would have more problems if one month down the road, he start asking me things like "why the wallet colour is getting darker ah?", "why the wallet is darker on the area where my pocket is pressing ah?"

And next thing you know, he says its a defect and wants a refund.

I did reply him, but I told him my wallet is not suitable for him.

Haha..

Anyway, talking about cordovan, not really sure why suddenly there is this craze about cordovan.

Shell cordovan, I can understand.

But normal cordovan, is no more premium than normal veg tan cowhide. In fact, the english veg tan cowhide I have is 2.3 times more expensive than cordovan.

One retailer even caution buyers than cordovan can be so brittle sometimes that you can literally tear it with your bare hands with some exertion.

Nice piece of python you have there! I like the "pattern" on it. I am now struggling to find time to make a new wallet for myself :( But when I do, I'd be putting some python skin on it.. the look is simply timeless..

Coincidentally, I am now finishing up a python trim wallet for someone. But I dunno if the owner is fine with me putting up pics of it. Anyhow, still got a few days to go... putting in a couple of hours everyday after work.. shacked out.
