I think the tunes vs toons was due to the mini toons shop that sells gifts. I've always remembered as tunes (I'm a 80s kid) but I think the younger ones might rem as toons

Unfortunately, I have yet find any definite evidence for the purpose of this blip in human history.

Unfortunately, what is being observed are just tip of the iceberg.

The changes are extended into various area in our collective memory.

I guess some one is trying to re-write history to shift humanity towards certain line of thoughts that he have scripted.

Maybe to alter history so that some one would not be prosecuted for the crimes that he have committed.

With the changed history, the past evidences would also be erased. The criminal would go scot-free.
