I'll be going to Taipei at end Mar for holiday anyway. if SG price too unreasonable I'll buy in Taipei lor. who knows what freebies they might give too (if I'm not too late that is)

i suspect Sony shop SG will be selling it maybe ~750? then agent price probably 680 or somewhere there bah..

They might have promos, or dancing robots in Taiwan. :D

looks good with the thinner bezel. reviews so far also say battery life is excellent. the ips lcd also improves the viewing angle greatly. when available? :D

hmmmmm will it be cheaper then Z1?

It will definitely be cheaper than Z1.

Aside from running same processor and camera, the display is smaller, lower resolution, smaller battery and smaller footprint justify lower cost.

But dont depend on our local sony to lower the price by too much.
Hope they can prove me wrong and earn more consumers. :D

Camera is definitely better, no doubt about that. Same snapdragon 800 chipset which basically settles all interface speed dispute. Resolution of the screen is different but the difference is offset by the difference in the size of the screen

Camera module is the same as Z1. So any difference will be up to software settings.

On YouTube, watched a comparison video between Z1C and iP5S camera, Z1C's was SUPER washed out, and basically inferior to the 5S's. I'll link the video ASAP.

Pictures for the lazy :p

^can you even see what shirt she's wearing on the Z1C?

^they mentioned that the unit they received has the software the retail units will have.

Really reconsidering the Z1C now... Guess I'll wait and see if Sony releases a fix.

For the benefit of doubt, wait for retail version.

You're comparing a flagship camera's phone to a lower end phone's camera... but having said that, the iPhone's camera does a lot of software trickery to get the picture like this... it's almost like a HDR shot or having curves or shadow/highlights tweaked on the fly... the Sony's camera is truer to the actual scene, it underexposes to preserve details, that's how Sony cameras also behave actually... the hazing in the moss photo is troubling though...

But most users (I.e. Me) don't spend hours editing photos to make them look gorgeous (or even presentable). I'd rather they tweak the software to make photos look nice, than have to do the post-processing myself. But then again, I've heard that the Auto mode of Sony phones does wonders, so yes, I'll be waiting for user reviews as well.

As a user of Z1, the Z1 compact also uses the same camera so it is hard to believe it will take such dull photos.

Sure, there has been tons of complaints for noisy pictures when zoomed in but it is due to higher pixel count.

The camera will take brighter (and maybe noisy) photos, but these does not look like taken from same camera of Z1.

And that is why it will be wiser to reserve any judgement before the real deal comes.

Well, I'm just wondering when exactly it will be released... if at all...

And to be fair, I read the comparison between Z1 compact and ip5s from this site - androidpit.
It certainly seems to favor more on ip5s.

1) they stated ip5s beat z1 compact in every tests, only shown one speedtest result which can be very subjective depending on network.

2) No tests conducted, they claimed ip5s' 1500 mah battery to be comparable to z1c 2300 mah battery.

3) they claimed z1c produced crappy pictures, with only few pictures to back up their claims. While other reviews have better pictures to show.

4) they claimed ip5s to be smooth and z1c to be laggy. Most other reviews found the s800 chip in z1c to be blazing fast.

5) they claimed z1 to be very smooth and they have major lag issues with z1c, both having same processor.
What are the odds of day and night difference between same processor?

To believe or not, is up to you. :)

Ah... Seems like I was trolled by androidpit... Since their name had an 'android' in it I automatically assumed that they would favor the Z1C.

Screw myself. I need to do more homework next time! Sorry guys :o

There is something that other phones cannot claim to, which is low light taken by z1, this really pawns all the others.
