SD card is necessary for backup, when you want to wipe your phone for clean installation of new firmware updates.

yup that too. but i think phones with no external storage the internal storage will partition the spaces so that when you do clean installation the media files wouldn't get erased.

whereas I understand for us, doing a full wipe by flashing FTF files or "Repair" in PC Companion will really wipe that 16GB storage clean clean.. erased all my Instagram photos before lol

Most likely will only sell at Sony stores at RRP and the telcos will not be carrying it. Insider news. :)

Just tell them that you want a micro SIM card, not nano-SIM.

Not again our local sony does this again

It is unlikely that it's Sony Mobile Singapore's decision to do this. From their point of view, they want to sell as many sets as possible and the way to do so is definitely via the telcos. But if the telcos don't want to carry the device (for various reasons), then Sony Singapore can't do anything about it.

I remember the Xperia SL was only sold at Sony stores, because it was too much like the Xperia S, which the telcos were still selling and promoting.

I remembered casually asking Singtel shop at nex if I recontract to iPhone 5S can I request for a micoSIM instead of nano they said no -_- but good to know it's possible :D

don't get why Telcos wouldn't want to sell the Compact though.. they did sell HTC One Mini and S4 mini... maybe they know they would make the price unreasonable

yeah it will be hard to price this...it's basically a high-end phone with a smaller screen. but ppl will think it's a low-end phone cos of its screen-size so won't want to pay too much.

If you are recontracting, then just use your present microSIM card. Why is there a need to change SIM card when you recontract? Some months, I also recontracted via M1 and got a 5S from them, which I sold off on the same day. I wasn't asked / told that I needed to change my microSIM to nano.

because my current plan is still the 3G 12GB plan.. unless upgrading to 4G VAS doesn't require a new SIM card.. also because I'm considering to port from Singtel to M1 ...

When I recontracted, I also changed my plan from 3G to 4G. No need to change SIM card. For number porting, I'm not sure if SIM card change is needed. You might want to check with M1.

Last time I checked with ST, 3G and LTE network can use the same sim card.
Unless you are using ancient 2G card, upgrading from 3G to LTE no need to change sim card.

Porting from one service provider to another will definitely need new sim card, from the new provider.
