Two arguments that are sometimes advanced in favour of cancellation vs freezing:

- WIth a past cancellation >12 months ago, there may be new sign-up bonuses etc. that someone qualifies for, if the card benefits improve substantially.

- There is a small issue of having to keep track of accounts and statements to make sure that any unauthorised charges are immediately disputed and the time that an annual fee is charged, one can act on it immediately.

If freeze credit card will the annual fee get waived?

A telemarketer from OCBC got me to sign up for this card last month. I thought the rebates were amazing initially - then the sudden news about a revision in rebates offered -

Merging online spend with contactless into one category is absolutely retarded - that is likely how the bulk of ordinary consumers spend their cards on, and they capped it at S$25??

Do the guys introducing this revision have any clue what they were doing? Or do they think the normal plebians can't do their math to know that this is a complete farce of a deal, by just simply playing around with numbers that look pretty but are simply just not logical?????

If this is a move to cut cost/improve profit, fair enough. But this can't be disguised as a better deal for us!

This is a bank well-known for being hostile to their customers after all. :s13:

Hello DG, i spoke to one of OCBC's customer service staff with regards to the FX cashback category - In stores spending on foreign currency transactions. I was advise that the physical Frank credit card is required to be presented for foreign currency spending overseas instead of contactless mobile mode of payments. While online/contactless mobile transactions used to be the focus of FCC, can i confirm the above new requirement from 1st Nov'22?

there's no more ocbc rep here now

the above advice does not sound right

... the TnC clearly stated "contactless mobile payment in SGD"

so contactless mobile in other currencies shld fall under FX Cashback category

Agree, I was under the impression that all non-SGD transactions (regardless of payment mode e.g. swipe / online / mobilepay) gets the 8% as long as MCC not excluded.

No emails on the changes.... only published on their website. is this sneaky or what?

E-mail from ocbcmarketing@ocbc.com on September 30, with this subject:

"We will enhance the FRANK Credit Card cashback programme from 1 November"

Btw, Dictionary.com defines "enhance" as:

to raise to a higher degree; intensify; magnify
to raise the value or price of

The dictionary also says:

OPPOSITES FOR ENHANCE

1 diminish, lessen.
2. reduce.

Evidently, the English language is not OCBC's strong suite. On the other hand, deception is.
