The Nexus 4 Thread

Maybe got this mentioned before in the thread, but I will say this anyway..

I got my Nexus 4, 8GB one yesterday.. sadly there is a little scratch on the silver lining thing near the left side bottom, its like the chrome/silver plating thing has worn off somehow.. but never mind leh, got the phone with so much difficulty, cannot complain!

More importantly, I got a screen protector and those soft plastic casings from Jurong point.. the screen protector, especially for this phone..surprising they got the stock already..but, the protector covers the proximity sensor, whoah got a big problem with the screen on/off during call, scared me so much.. then I read some forums mention about the screen protector thing, I had to cut the screen protector from the top part.. now perfect again! just wanted to mention this in case anyone else got this kind of problem.. I saw some people complain about this on xda..

I am coming from the Galaxy nexus.. the screen definitely seems brighter than the nexus using the Auto brightness setting.. I did however noticed that, looking from the little off angle, the screen looks yellow.. Haha I had an impression that IPS LCDs have a very good viewing angles. Again no complains, just an interesting observation..

Another interesting bit was that my phone originally had the pre-production version of the software.. I got a 30MB update as soon as I logged on to the internet.. So, they are selling phones to customer also with pre-production software..

I guess I got lucky to find the N4 case immediately after I bought it... I found the exact case for Nexus 4 at Boon Lay bus interchange shop.. it is one of those small trolley cart kind of shop, I usually get my screen protectors and case from that guy.. It is one of the transparent TPU case with S-shape at the back..for 10 dollars.. I had the exact same case for my Galaxy Nexus last time also..

I wish they get a bumper time case soon as well.. would be nice to show off the nexus logo!

just noticed that my order status updated into 'pending' too, with wallet says that google received my order. no indication card has been charged yet. i suppose when it is charged, means that the item ready to be shipped and i'll get the tracking number?

ordered on 28th at around 3pm. status still pending too. the money has been held in my credit card liao though...

There are free books and magazines with 1 month free trial that you can cancel immediately after buying, what's so hard about that?

Here you go Fellas.. Like I said before, I got a sort of transparent case, with S wave pattern at the back.. It fits the Nexus 4 snugly.. That guy had other colors like black, blue red etc.. The cut outs are not aligned like 100%, but still all right.. I guess the first stock is like this.. The photo is taken by the nexus camera..sorry dont have another camera now to take the picture of the case with the phone itself..

For the benefit of the community, I will try to give you some directions to this guy's shop, I hope I am clear enough..
His shop is sort of fixed at that place.. So, Boon lay Bus Interchange, the one behind Jurong point mall..Its near the corner of the interchange, the entire interchange, if some of you dont know, is underground and shaped like "L"..His shop is at the bend of that "L".. sure can find.. he got the screen protector as well as the case..

After a few days of usage and battery cycles, the battery performance seemed to be the same.

Up till today, I haven't received the Android 4.2.1 update either.

Hmmm I havent received the 4.2.1 update either.. But thats normal ..the OTA is usually rolled in waves, so .. also, this is a very small update to fix that december issue..nothing big, so I havent bothered to install it manually.. dont want to root it just yet.. usually after rooting, I become a "flashoholic", waste too much time.. Haha

I have had it only for like 2 days so far, the battery life seems to be okay for me.. actually a lot better than the galaxy nexus... other than that, I like the screen a lot, the 2GB RAM is making the switching between applications such a breeze! I also have a nexus 7, and the phone is also noticeably faster than the N7..

Hi alprakas,

I've been using (and reviewing) a few Android devices since 2010. None of them came close to matching the smoothness I felt in the Nexus 4. BIG PLUS POINT.

I know the Android 4.2.1 update is a small one, but don't feel good lagging behind especially after my previous One X took nearly 8 months to get updated to Jelly Bean. I have had enough! =X

I agree with you that N4 feels faster than N7.
