I got an offer of $540 for 16gb black D281, stated to be HK set. Is HK set 4G? Also, at the back of the box with the label sticker, will it state the D281?

And, hows the quality of nexus 5 frm LG so far? Read a lot of bad QC for Nexus 4, so a bit skeptical about it.

$540 is quite a good deal. You should take it.

As mentioned numerous times, there are only two types of N5 North US or International, hence anything other than North US are compatible with SG LTE bands. Go read the spec on Google play store website.

To mention again for dunno how many times already, SG is using LTE bands 3/7.

QC issues are quite subjective and depends on luck. Applies to any electronic stuff.

It is D821 which is the rest of the world(ROTW) set vs D820 US set which is not compatible with SG LTE.

It is indicated on the label sticker as well.

If u are very concerned with the price alone, import it urself... (If u are lucky, u may even avoid GST like i did)

Else, better to shop around for the best deal...

why get a US set which cannt use LTE ?

If still on 3G why not? In fact, fast speed is useless if limited by its data usage. E.g., I can use up to 5gb per month with no tethering or streaming video on my phone using only 3G.

You can't compare Moto G, Moto X, and Nexus 5. They got different hardware spec. They're also targeted to different market segments and nothing to do with LTE/3G. There is no reason not to get N5 just because one doesn't use LTE, especially if we want to have a Nexus device and high end hardware spec.
