There are some settings that reduce battery consumption by google stuff

1) under settings>wifi>advanced
- Untick scanning always available
- Tick Wi-fi optimization

2) settings>location>Location Services (Google location reporting)
- turn off the Location reporting & Location History for all your google accounts

*I use battery saving mode, and only switch to high accuracy when i need GPS

3) settings>data usage>overflow menu
- If you want to sync manually, you can turn off auto-sync data
- If you want restrict background data sync, you can tick it

*I have auto-sync enabled and restrict background data disabled.
I usually get 4h SOT (using franco kernel)

4) settings>accounts
- Under your google accounts, you might want to turn off Auto Backup for google+
- You might also want to turn off the syncing of some google apps.

* For me, I have auto-sync on, but I disable syncing of Google+, but I have the Google+ photo auto-sync enabled but on wifi only & while charging only.

You have to dig around the settings of google stuff and disable all those syncing stuff so that GMS will not have so much wakelock.

But its all give and take, by disabling more google services, you lose more of the google-ness. One such example is Google Now.

It is very personalized and google-ly but quite a lot of wakelocks

Ha thanks for the tips bro! Will reflash PA again tonight or maybe try carbon rom and apply the things you say. One thing I like is google now but seriously too much wake lock..usually use it to check nba scores and some traveling time.

How do you guys improve the quality of photos taken from nexus 5? Do you guys use HDR mode?:s11:

I always use HDR+ mode for my photos, except the ones which I use the Lens Blur effect for. HDR+ makes a world of difference IMO.

Just wondering if there's any way to keep HDR+ enabled by default. The setting just won't stick after some time.

Anyone else using a smart cover with your Nexus 5? I noticed my phone doesn't vibrate when I do (it vibrates once, then stops...).

Am running CM11 snapshot M6

Has anyone tried the recently updated Google Camera? New features include 16:9 ratio mode (finally!) and new fisheye/wide angle modes.

yes.. got 16:9 but it is cropped.

You can crop yourself also from the full 8MP (4:3)

fisheye have to take quite a lot of shots

wide angle quite cool
