My nexus 5 started showing static, and the lower half of the screen jumps up and down, apparently it needs a LCD replacement. I enquired at a shop, t will cost SGD220 to repair here.
I was thinking of I should send it back to Japan for service, the shipping cost to and fro should cost lesser than that. But i'm not sure what the procedure is for that either?
Any opinions on this guys?
Just call Japan or USA google (if after Japan's office hours).
Tell them your problem. They will initiate a RMA if required and email you the details.
In your case, Japan google will handle your case. The forms are in Japanese but the agent will explain to you what each line means.
Once you "received" your phone, which should be to some forwarder service in Japan you used. You have 21 days to return your faulty device (singpost, fedex, etc).
Your received phone is actually a new purchase in google play store where they will put an authorization hold on the price of the device (link will be given by them). Basically that price you temporary paid is frozen and will be return back when they get your faulty phone (prevent cheaters).
