it is not factory reset, all apps and setting retained.

I tried this but Google Play store crashed very often.
In the end, I gave up and did a factory reset.
Flashing the 4.4.1 OTA update worked at last.

for those with franco do some renaming b4 flashing back to stock kernel den flash to 4.4.1

Rename /system/lib/hw/power.msm8974.so.bak to /system/lib/hw/power.msm8974.so
Rename /system/bin/thermal-engine-hh-bak to /system/bin/thermal-engine-hh

Already flashed in the morning. Overall so far so good. Monitoring the battery life compared with my favourite R12.

1) Will flashing stock kenel resets all personal settings and deletes all apps?
2) Which backup software to use? is TWRP backup good enuff to restore all installed apps and settings?

1. No.
2. I recommend Titanium Backup, but TWRP should be ok provided u know what to backup and restore.

Flashed custom rom catalysm with 4.4.1

The whole point of nexus is to flash features to your phone I guess. Stock just doesn't work that well with so many goodies not included

Yeah, did a manual flash for 4.4.1

Phone volume seems louder and cam focus faster.. Overall phone performance seems snappier..

btw if i used apps that changes my CPU's frequency(not under/over tho) and power modes like ondemand to powersave etc, will i still be able to get OTA update?

Am wondering if 4.4.1 is late or the changes caused by the battery app is preventing me from getting OTA

Am using OnePower Guard btw. Good app to change cpu frequencies and kernel modes on the fly

my longest battery life so far with francoR19 is 1day14hour41min witb 28% SOT. now on 4.4.2 with franco_test20. start the monitoring...
