actually was hoping to see they release QHD res with 805 processor ... but well guess 805 processor wasn't ready for them to place into the smartphone just yet. if they did release such spec for now, it will surely push other brand to follow and launch the next gen flagship smartphone at much earlier date.

The reason why they didnt go for QHD , i think they had made a deal and wanted to use the 801 processor, and also due to the fact that 801 processor isn't have the enough juice to power the QHD res well and smoothly. the same logical can be apply on LG flagship G3. only snapdragon 805 and above (808/810) processor have the power to do that well. thus they opt for a safer screen res such as 1080P. sure confirm got no issue.

Actually, how big the differences are between 801 and 805? I know people tends to after latest specs and hardware. But is it necessary? Unless 805 can save up to 20-30% of battery life as compared to 801?

The 16GB model will go on sale for RMB 1999, while the 64GB model will be selling for RMB 2499. The 2 models uses eMMC5.0 ROM, which doubles the read speed and bumps write speed up by 50%. Seriously, I stared at G3 for a while and it's really not easy to spot difference between G3 and G2 display. Fonts maybe little sharper, when you look closer. But we don't read that close mah...

well, in term of the QHD res aka 2K , 801 processor doesn't have enough juice to power up the 2560 x 1440p res well, thus not able to save up the battery, instead it will use more battery to maintain the res, and it will feel lag on it.

805 processor is still able to power up the 1440p quite easily and still able to save the battery and yet maintain the res without any lag. it could be one of the reasons.

same man, the best example would be to put oppo find 7 and 7a side by side to compare... i have 4 friends with me back then and all 5 of us couldn't see the diff, what's funny was that 3 of us believed that the 7a screen has better colour reproduction... end of up one of my friend bought the 7a as he could not justify paying that $120 more just for that 2k screen.

But there is difference between my ex S5 and my current S5 LTE-A. It's really sharp.

Samsung SAMOLED is using pentile matrix arrangement. unlike most most others using RGB matrix, pentile matrix actually have a one third lower subpixel density compared to RGB matrix. Hence S5 is not true 1080p (432ppi) screen as advertise and S5 LTE-A is not true 1440p (576ppi) screen as advertise. That is why LG keep marketing their screen is True HD due to the use of RGB matrix.

S5 sub pixel density is 288 while S5 LTE-A is 384. This is the reason you see the different. But you will be hard press to find the different on a 5" RGB matrix screen. Even with 10/8 eyesight, I need to stare really hard at Oppo Find 7 and Oppo Find 7A screen to make out the individual pixels

You can read up Asking Reddit: OLEDs (pentile) have a one third lower subpixel density compared to RGB LCDs. Thus, is a 1440p OLED (pentile) display equal in subpixel density to 960p LCD (rgb) display? : ProjectMorpheus for more info.
