I doubt so. Active, as its namesake, depends on the selling point of selling to people who run around and has no sense of taking care of their belongings. That is why it is near indestructible.

Other phones like S doesn't need this function because its target audience are the general public, not sporty people alone.

Same theory goes for why Walkman phones do not have superior camera compared to Cybershot phones and vice versa.

Sony needs to stop fragmenting their products like that. They should just put their best technologies into one ultimate flagship phone. Sure, it probably would kill some of their product lineups but it would also kill apple and everyother competitors in the smartphone industry XD

I might be wrong, but this is how I see it:

They come out with phones of different specialty functions to cater specific target audiences' needs, at the same time making it affordable.

There will be consumers who has the mentality of "I already own this uber powerful DSLR. So there is no need to spend more money on a 'good' camera function on a cellphone since I won't be using it", "I am a poor student I just need a low-end, affordable smartphone to keep up with the times", "This phone looks too classy doesn't suit my lifestyle" etc.

Where PineApple is too moneyminded to care about the individual needs, at least Sony takes into consideration about small details.

And also, flagship phones are mainly about attractiveness. If you are to incorporate the properties of let's say... Active, the S would look like Kabuto in its Cast On mode - bulkily armored.

The glass, I believe, although is quite resilient in nature, the strength to withstand impacts is partly due to the (metal?) frame supporting it. For most, they would rather buy a Tim Burton's sleek, sexy Batmobile rather than a Chris Bale's bulky tumbler Batmobile.

Even if you argue that S will be fine with just the glass, but it'll mean additional costs, making the phone more expensive. I'm sure every phone manufacturers are striving hard to have their smartphones not more expensive than iamalamePhones.

After all, those phones are still the #1 preferred phones and people would rather get those instead of something more expensive than those.

Only carnivores despise the fruit despite it being the 'phone of status' are willing to buy droids.

Maybe if Sony manages to raise its reputation to a certain level of trust to the world, then they can afford to churn out top-notch spec phones without worrying the price of it.

After all, unlike PineApple, who gains profits from mainly their Mechs which are more expensive than PCs, but are highly sought after by design industries, Sony is, as of now, reported making a loss. So I don't think it will wanna test market by coming out with expensive Ultima Phones.

Not high. It doesn't happen like this. Sony has to spend time personalizing the OS and debug it.

Other companies can release doesn't mean it can, too.

Just don't put too much hopes onto it ba.

new updates sure gotvhiccups one
let Sony do it well and not rush job unlike it korean and Taiwan competitors

I also wish x's got ics too due to dualcore on paaper os better on ics but if sony tweak it ginger bread on x's nicely no issue and battery life is good enough I got no complats as I need dualcore more

To be honest I don't mind it not coming with ICS if it comes out in March. Let them do a good check through first and eradicate as much of the bugs as possible then roll it out.

Went to M1's mobile shop page and the Xperia S is listed as expected to come in March. Hopefully this is true.

If you think more about it, how many phones to be released with built-in ICS in Mar? Most of these phonemakers claimed new phones released with built-in ICS, will probably have their phones on shelves after May.

Release date varies for different countries.

According to past records, SE phones will show up at Japan first, followed by UK & some Nordic countries before the rest of the world.
