I hope that in addition to seeing announcement of lt29 and lt30 at the end of August, maybe we can see announcement of xperia nexus.

Btw, who is up for switching to vanilla instead of remaining on UXP?
I might go for vanilla due to all bloatwares, which im lazy to root and remove.

Some apps have not been updated by their developers to be fully compatible with ICS.

You can do a clean install but connecting your phone to PC Companion and selecting the update option. You will be informed that you have the latest version but there should be a Repair option. Just go through the Repair flow. Please note that all your user data will be wiped, so backup first.

Did a re-install using the sony software.

I feel its better now. Been few days since and no signs of apps failing. The proximity sensor also now work after putting the phone away from face after calls.

It will be an optional update. Sony will still develop and roll out updates to their own software.

IMO, it is better than the rest of the android fellas. We get to choose to keep sony ui or change to vanilla ui with the official ways.

It may be a good selling point for the upcoming xsl, replacing xs.

I have been fiddling with the phone ever since I did a clean install on my XS this morning, and something boggles me.

I can't seem to find the option to use my own mp3 ringtones as the phone ringtone. That goes the same as for default notification tones.

Didn't have this problem when my phone was on Gingerbread.

Any method to go around this and use my my own mp3s back? Many thanks in advance to the countless knowledgeable and friendly bros here

There're two ways to go about it:

1. Settings -> Sound -> Sound Picker -> Click on the little musical note on the top right, it'll bring you to ya mp3s

2. From the Music Player -> My Music -> Select Tracks -> Select and hold onto selected track to bring up that option

Cool thanks! Didn't know the musical note has a function I gotta spend more time to fiddle with the new UI! Grateful for the alternative method too

Does anyone know if there's a screen protector that's smooth and doesn't leave oily finger marks like matte ones, but doesn't add that grainy distortion to the screen? I remember people mentioning Dataflex or something. Is there something else like it? Thanks in advance!
